I've built a few systems in the past but this time I'm going a bit deeper to get things optimized. Stability of my system is paramount, but I want to maximize performance with what I have.

I'm wondering if I have anything set to [Auto] that might better be specified, or if I have any settings that are obviously wrong.

I read in the Gigabyte manual that they highly recommend running the FSB speed as recommended on the CPU. I haven't done that. I lowered the multiplier and raised the FSB to the Mobo spec max (1600). Right now the CPU is overclocked from 2.83 to 3.2Ghz and the RAM is on 3.5 divider for its rated 1333. The system locks up on boot (before post) if I try the RAM at 1600. I don't think I can set the RAM speed inbetween 1333 and 1600 with the FSB locked at 1600. Right?

Please comment on the CPU/FSB/RAM speed relationship. I figured best to run the FSB as fast as possible to maximize overall performance (esp disk IO which is important in my application).

Here are my current settings, stable with limited testing on MemTest86+ and Prime95. My CPU Core temps stick around 76 when running the 'balanced' Prime95 test.

Oh.... Gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3R // Intel Q9550 2.83Ghz // OCZ Gold 2x2GB 9-9-9-20 1333mhz ram. Stock cooling on CPU.

I was a little surprised how high the Mobo pushed the voltages (CPU esp) at Auto settings. It's running cooler now at 3.2Ghz at "Normal" voltage than at 2.83 on "Auto" voltage!
