Default HELP!! GA-EX38-DQ6 Shuts down then boots for 2 seconds then repeats this cycle 4eva

    Hi all

I've got a serious problem. First here is my rig

    GA-EX38-DQ6
    Core 2 Quad Q9300 2.5 Ghz 45nm
    2 x 2Gig Trancend AXE Gaming Ram 1066
    XFX 8800 GTX
    No current overclock

Attempted an overclock in bios (recently updated to latest somewhere in Nov 2008).

Set vcore from 2.215 to 2.5 and clock from 2.5 to 2.77.

Save and reboot. Now as you know with these motherboards the system powers down then boots itself up for the changes. Sometimes this happens more than once (but in my experience no more than 3).

This time however it locked in this cycle indefinitly, just powers up and shuts down over and over, never over 2 seconds. No Post no chance to access bios nothing!!

Did the clear CMOS Jumper, removed CMOS battery, several times (with very generous waiting times to be sure) but to no avail.

There are no beep codes, system has been running fine for +- 6 months now.

Please any help would be appreciated, please tell me someone has had this issue and was able to resolve it....

Set vcore from 2.215 to 2.5 and clock from 2.5 to 2.77.
Surely those figures are a typo, otherwise your CPU would be damaged by now.

mine boot loops also, I think its something with the new bios. I clear CMOS and its fixed, but its a pain ITA.

Sorry yes, 1.215 to 1.5. I read a few reviews where guys had successfull overclocks on 1.31 vcore and 3Ghz clock on stock cooling with these CPU's. Surely upping the voltage 1 setting from default shouldn't fry my CPU in 2 seconds.

Any ideas? Something I have noticed while looking for help is that a lot of DQ6 motherboard owners are experiencing this very same issue, but none of their posts are resolved.

    Thanks

I have reset the CMOS several times but to no avail, using both the clear CMOS jumper method as well as removing the battery.

I assume you are running that DDR2-1066 at 1066Mhz? (to both posters)

If you can get into the bios, change the following (for now)

    1) Enter bios and load up otimised defaults, SAVE (pc reboots)
    2) Re-Enter the bios and cahnge the following values from Auto to Manual
    3) Performance Enhance = Standard
    4) tRFC (Refresh To Act Delay) = 56
    5) DDR2 Voltage Increment = +0.1v or 0.2V (ie 1.9v or 2.0volts)

JeepRubicon, in addition to above, if NEED be (and if you can enter the bios) you could up the DDR2 voltage to 2.1volts (try less first though)
