    Default EP45-UD3R advanced timing question

    Which do you guys think is better?

    I have tested for 6 hours prime95 using these settings and got a max temp of 64c. thats with Vcore 1.375 and MCH core 1.32
    Advanced Timing Control

    I also tested these for 6 hours. I can run these with a lower Vcore of 1.3625 and MCHcore of 1.30. My max temp here was 60c

    This is my first attempt at overclocking, I want to try for 24 hours in prime but im not sure if the lower timings are worth the extra heat. Also if you see anything else I need to change please let me know. Thanks

    I doubt you are going to see any real-world difference between those sub-timings. Maybe not even in benchmarks. That being said I would use the settings giving the lowest voltage and temperatures.

    Yeah I would also go with the cooler temps and less voltages. Your better off with looser and trying to get PL9(static tRead)

    BTW what CPU is that, guessing its a E8400 E0?

    Have you tried lowering the MCH ref more to .70 or .68?

    Thanks for the quick response's. I was thinking the lower volts and temps would be the way to go, but wanted to see what people who know what they are doing thought.
    And thanks for the tips Speed, I will try to get PL9. and lowering the MCH ref a little more.
    It took me 2 days to figure out that was the thing stopping me from going over 450 fsb.

    Yep on mine .68 or .66 MCH ref is what I need to go higher also adding MCH core. Most with dual cores seem to like this range of .68-.70 mch ref.

    A note on what I mean by these settings is, set to the valuse i listed with the VTT(cpu termination) set at 1.2v, then you can go back and change the VTT to your 1.24v. You will notice that changing VTT changes the reference values.

    A quick way is so that it shows .70 or .68 MCH ref in ET6, as it displays the references as the VTT is 1.2v even though you have changed it

    Your get the best memory throughput figures by lowering tRD (Static tRead Value), more than any other memory timings. The downside though is it's a trade off between stability vs performance. Obviously you need to find that threshold.

    Running now at PL9 and MCH ref. showing .70 in ET6.
    Ran 24 hours prime95 blend with no errors and a max temp of 62c.
