If that ram has a spec voltage try setting the dram voltage to that value, and lower the MCH core to 1.050V. Hope it helps...

I imagine you are getting very annoyed now with people not reading the whole thread and posting the same information.

Any news on the RMA or the chat with the guys over at anandtech?

    Yes, just a bit.

Gary and I are talking back and forth and he is doing all he can to let gigabyte become aware of this issue. Also I actually received a betabios from Janus this morning and will try it out tonight when I get home.

If that does not work, I will go buy another mobo this weekend and RMA this one to Gigabyte and then maybe they can figure out what is going on. Only bad thing is, they don't have my exact parts, where Gary from Anandtech does and he tried it out and his worked fine. he thinks maybe a bad batch of boards are out.

    Great feedback!

Surely people will be now have a good enough reason to be able to get an RMA regardless of what warranty they have left with the retailer they bought the board from.

It's a shame that you couldn't send the whole machine in or they wont send someone to your area to look at your exact machine to get a better look at the problem to determine if it is a bad batch or if its to do with certain component combinations.

Did the anandtech guy try any overclocking? Just wondering if overclocking/over-volting might have caused any damage BEFORE you filled the extra slots.

Just found this thread... and I figured I was the only one with this issue

I'm running stable now with 2 sticks of 2gb mushkin PC8500 at 1066 single channel in the first set of slots. But if I try and dual channel it, it keeps rebooting until I press restart a few times and it finally reaches the vista log-in screen. Runs fine once windows is going... registers 4 gb dual channeled and reboots fast without any problems. Still sometimes it takes 5 minutes to turn on because of the reboot loop.

I ran a diagnostic that checked the ram and video memory as well as the hard drive, registered a video memory error but I think its a fluke. Seems the memory controller on the motherboard is just bad. It won't boot at all if ram is in slots 1 and 4 single channel.

Memtest also found no ram errors with the sticks individually over several passes.

Edit: the board did not default to the right memory voltages but I changed it from 1.8 to 2.0 and still got the same problems. timing is set correctly too

Case anyone wants to know... specs are:
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775
    Thermaltake toughpower W0105RU 700W ATX12V / EPS12V
    mushkin 996599 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
    SAPPHIRE 100245L Radeon HD 4850 512MB

Oh I thought I was the only person having this problem but looks like this problem is quite common. I had almost identicl problem myself but switching ram from Gskill to Corsair solved the problem for me. You seem to have gone through lots of memory sets already but have you tried Corsair? I had no patience to go through whole 10 pages so if you already have, I'm sorry:p BTW if you get beta bios from Gigabyte could you kindly share with us? I wanna have a go at it, if I may.

Is the new corsair ram running at 1066? Because my motherboard boots fine with 800mhz PNY ram from best buy, dual channeled 2x2gb. It just wont boot right with my mushkin 2x2 at 1066 if one is in the second set of slots.
