Though I might Add that when running more than 1 stick, I can occasionly boot to windows if it doesnt freeze up. but it freezes shortly after getting into windows,And since Clo007 has tried so many different ram combos would not be any use buying more different/higher quality ram?

What a joke. I've RMA'd one ud3r and I'm on my second board now. Tried 3 different types of ram, two processors and a new power supply. Nothing worked ~ so I'm running in single channel slots 1 & 2 now because I spent WAY TOO MUCH TIME on this! Never seen anything like it and after many Gigabyte builds in the past I'm done. Looks like it's time to jump ship, especially after purchasing a new Q9650 and $400 video card. So disappointing.

I didnt have this problem until now, but now i get it occationally when turning the computer on.

Taking AC power out, switching PSU off and pressing on/off switch to get rid of current resolves it turning back on again. It will come back again however if you enter bios save and restart the pc again tho.

Clo007 and others, I feel your pain.
I have built 3 systems with this board using 8500 memory from G.Skill on 2 sets, and 8500 from Patriot on the other, all using 4 GB (2x2) in dual channel. No problems at all. The 4th same Gigabyte motherboard will simply not accept 2 sticks for dual channel. And it's not the ram, because I natually swapped out the ram from the other working sets into this board and none of them work with 2 sticks in this board. Wont even boot to BIOS. I am able to use 2 sticks of 800 PC6400 in dual channel. I really would have like to use the 8500. Bummer!

It's hard to imagine that there's not a fundamental problem with that board which was caused as a result of some glitch in the manufacturing process so that some boards will exhibit the problem while others may not. I don't think they're ever going to solve the problem even with a BIOS update

Thanks for that reply, and I did try that before swapping the RAM. I was going to try your settings, but after swapping the RAM w/ a friend of mine (and trying two other sets he had), I decided to just RMA w/ newegg and go that route.

Two weeks later, I have a working system, with the same 2x2GB, running in slots 1 & 3... and I finally was able to setup the system last night!

So it was indeed the board... thanks to all who posted for Clo007 & for all the help regardless. Clo007, I hope you RMA'd yours, and up with a success story as well.

And I was going to purchase a UD3P thinking it would be ok. There seems to be some memory compatibility issues or something.

Gigabyte really needs to look into this as everyday another post is occuring with this same issue.

yeah now im not sure if I should spend the extra and buy the UD3R.
I was looking to run 2x1GB XMS2 1066 sticks and then add 2 more in the future, If I dont go for this then im gonna have to go looking for a another board.

I got a new system a week ago first getting the UD3R, which was having problems running dual channel, so I RMA'd the board For a UD3P and same problem occured.
Im running kingston 1333 Ram, i bought 6gb (3x2gb). but it only runs with just 1 stick.
Guess i was just letting people know that changing the board didnt help.
I had to RMA 3 times to get a working board. And even on the 3rd board my 1066 ram was giving me problems so Im using a set of G.skill 800mhz ram, and its been stable since. Now that everything is up and stable I like the mainboard, but I dont think ill be buying any more Gigabyte products after this. Sorry to hear your still having these bull**** problems cloo.

Yeah. I need to RMA this board but I don't have the time to wait on shipping to them and seeing if they can resolve the issue. I also don't want to buy another one and the same crap happen.

There seems to be a serious quality control issue happening and I really wish Gigabyte would look into this issue more.
