    Dear LSDMEASAP Sir

    I read through many posts here about RAM Timings and also your OC guide. Then I made these changes in BIOS.

    TRRD - 3 ( It was anyways 3 AUTO)
    TWTR - Set to 4 ( It was 3 AUTO)
    TWR - 6 ( It was 6 AUTO)
    TRFC - Set to 52 ( Was 42 AUTO)
    TRTP - 3 ( It was 3 AUTO)
    CMD - 2 ( It was 0 AUTO)

    Statis Read - 7 ( It was 6 AUTO). Did this for both channels A and B. Driving strength was set to AUTO.

    CPU FSB - 333
    Multi - 10
    MCH Latch - Set it to AUTO
    RAM Multiplier - 2.4
    DRAM Frequency - 800
    DRAM Voltage - 2.0
    MCH Voltage - 1.2
    CPU Voltage - 1.3625
    CPU PLL - 1.55

    Saved the settings and the computer started going in loops of restarts and was unable to load BIOS. Finally got CMOS Checksum Error. Turned off PC, disconnected from Power, Reset CMOS and then booted the system and now it gave me the message "Recovering BIOS from HDD". The blue light on the chasis kept on flashing and no HDD led. I thought my Mobo went for a toss. Turned off PC. Disconnected power. Popped out CMOS battery, Waited for a minute and tried again and got the same message "Recovering BIOS from HDD". Turned off PC, removed both RAMs and started PC and strangely it did not beep but the computer turns on and restarts, then I disconnected the sata connectors from Mobo, turned on PC and it booted in BIOS.

    Why does not my computer beep if I remove RAM. It does not even beep during bootup . It ideally should. Dont know why sir.

    I dont know why it started looking for BIOS in HDD. I did not setup Q Install Utility. Any MCH latch selected higher than 266 or AUTO does stop the double post. With MCH Latch selected 266 and the setting mentioned in the above posts, the system works fine.

    I dont know if this is a limitation of this Mobo.

    I wanna get 400 FSB with RAM running at 800 Mhhz with DRAM to FSB ratio 1:1.

    PLEASE ADVISE SOON SIR. :)

    Sorry I have had a terrible connection the past weekend!!

    Just so you know, What you see in the BIOS for Auto is not always used so you cannot base anything on that or think that is always what is being used

    Ya, that is odd about your beeps, it should beep once when it boots normally

    BIOS is automatically backed up to the HD if you are not using RAID as well as stored on the second BIOS chip on your board

    You will need to use 2.00B or 2.00D for 400 FSB and you will want to set tRD (Static tRead Value) to 10 for starters. 7 may have been your issue, not sure since you did not post the settings that failed for you. MCH Latch can be on Auto as long as you choose the correct Memory Multi for the FSB you are using

    tRFC is also way to low for 2x2GB, set that to 54-58 for now

    If you need more advice then that, please do post for me your exact full settings you are trying that fail and I will advise back (Sooner then 2 days, sorry again!)

    I have mentioned the settings below. If FSB is less than 333 and MCH latch set to Auto, double post does not happen. FSB greater than or equal to 333 and MCH latch either set to Auto or greater than 266 causes double post after AC power disconenction. That happens everytime. If I choose MCH latch 266 it does not double post.

    The details of my memory modules are here :
    My Memory module is Corsair TWIN 2X4096-6400C5DHX. Here is the link .

    The default voltage is 1.8V and RAM timings are 5-5-5-18.

    I can't select any other multiplier other than 2.5A with MCH latch 266 as then the RAM would run at 1000 which I doubt it will. If sir you can please advise me of the settings to get rid of this double post problem, in which case I can OC FSB to 400 and run RAM at 1:1 ratio at 800 MHz.

    You have to raise tRD and tRFC, and you should set Vtt (Termination) yourself as well.

    And you HAVE TO Disable C1E and EIST

    You should try 10 tRD for now until you get sorted out.

    Try this for 400 FSB, I am not sure, are you? That your CPU will normally do 400 FSB? Just checking

    Lsdmeasap sir. Thank you for replying back. I tried the settings you advised but it did not cure the double post problem. The system booted fine in Windows.

    My CPU(E7300) can go beyond 400 Mhz. Many people have tried.

    Let me explain my problem a bit more.

    What I mean by Double Post :- I start the PC after AC power disconnection, lights come up ( no display in monitor) and within 2 seconds, lights go off and the computer starts up fine( With display in Monitor) and load in Windows. This is what I mean by Double post. I dont know if I was correct about it. If you now restart the PC it double does not double post. It only does that after AC power disconnection depending on the setting.

    Double post happens in the following situations :-

    If FSB <=332, MCH Latch set to AUTO - Does not double post
    IF FSB >=333, MCH latch set to AUTO- Does double post
    IF FSB >= 333, MCH latch set to 266, does not double post. ( This is the settings I am using at the moment).

    I wanna cure this problem sir. Please advise sir.

    Well that sounds like you need to use the 266/A multi for your ram then at 333+FSB to avoid the double boot. It could be a BIOS bug, but I dont know, havent seen many reports about that.

    So try MCH Auto, and then use Memory Multi's that have a letter "A" on them (2.50A, 3.00A, 4.00A) and see if all is ok at a few FSB values

    And yes, I do know what you mean about Double boot

    Lsdmeasap sir. Thank you for replying. With MCH Set to Auto and selecting A multi works fine and is stable ( I mean no Double post after AC power disconnection). However, this limits my OCing. As with 333 FSB and Multi 2.5A, RAM runs at 833. I am not sure if my RAM will OC much.

    I know a few people who are using the same Mobo with different proccy and RAM. For example a friend of mine is using E8400 and OCZ 2X2GB 800 Mhz RAM. He was facing the same problem of double post but once he set TRFC to 54, the problem got cured. I dont know why I am a victim of this problem. I either have to stay content with 333 FSB or OC further and live with the double post. Is there any other thing that could be causing this problem sir????

    This Mobo came with F8 BIOS which is the latest one released by Gigabyte. Do you think the RAM is causing the problem???? If so then why only above 332. I am completely confused sir.

    Will the double post cause any problem if that happens??? I mean is it safe to live with that problem or does that needs immediate cure before proceeding further Ocing. Is double post an indication from BIOS that something is not right???

    I googled a lot and found many people face this problem not only with Gigabyte Mobo but other Mobos.

    Awaiting your advice.

    833Mhz is not much at all of a Overclock for 800Mhz ram, you should be fine there

    Well, the double post is OK, I mean it wont hurt anything and your system will run fine provided it is stable and provided your settings are still actually applied. But since it is doing that I think it may not be, but it could be stable?

    What happens is after 332 FSB your NB Will want to run the 333 (B) Strap so that is why it happens right then.

    Using the A strap after 333 FSB is better for performance anyway, so you are fine to use it. And if you are worried about going past 830 or so Ram speeds you can always use a Higher CPU Multi with once you get so far and then bring FSB Back down.

    Lsdmeasap sir. Thank you once again for replying. I have changed my RAM. I sold off the DHX RAM and have bought 4X1GB corsair DDR2 RAM. (Ofcourse the price I got was good and could only get 1Gb locally hence could not buy the 2GBX2).

    If I use all the 1GB RAMs in all the four slots, will it cause problem. My RAM is tested to run at 5-5-5-18 at 1.9V. Will there be any performance improvement????

    As I am using Windows Vista 32 bit, so there is a limitation that I cant make use of 4GB RAM. If I install three RAMs in three slots will it work fine??? Or will it be unstable as two RAMs will run in dual channel and one in single channel???

    Will I be able to OC 4X1GB RAMs or 3X1GB rams???????

    Please advise.
