    Default PCI-E x16 @ x1 ?!?!

    Hi,
Upgraded from a HD4850 to a EVGA GTX 260 216 today. I own a GA-EP31-DS3L powered by a Corsair TX650 and the top PCI-E slot is occupied with a Creative X-Fi Titanium PCI-Ex1. Problem is games are slow and stutter a lot while GPUz reports PCI-E x16 @ x1.

Uninstalled and used driver sweeper as well but problem persists(PCI-E x16 @ x1).

    Loaded optimum defaults but problem persists(PCI-E x16 @ x1).

Cleared CMOS and problem persists. Flashed my F4 bios to F5A and the problem still persists(PCI-E x16 @ x1).

Done all of this while locking PCI-E Express Frequency at 100MHz. Any help is appreciated :)

    Thanks

Had this same problem with my old ASUS board.. Try the next PCI-E slot.

You need to completely remove the old drivers if you have not yet, use driver sweeper or similar, also use the search function and remove all the "ATI" files that you find

This has been seen before on here, mainly with 8800GT's. Although that might be because it was a popular card and was one of the first PCi-e 2.0 cards available.
Your board as far as I know is Pci-e 1.1 and of course the GTX260 is Pci-e 2.0, although many Nvidia Partners say it's backward compatable to atleast Pci-e 1.1.

Did you ever check to see what mode your 4850 was in?

Also you could try removing the X-fi card and then testing (with it removed). It might need to go in a different Pci-e x1 slot.

My 4850 showed "PCI-E x16 @ x16". I remember this very well. Tried removing and running the card without the X-Fi card as well but still no luck.

Did you load up the optimised defaults, save & allow reboot after the bios upgrade?

    Try Pci-e Frequency at 101 or 102Mhz

I assume all power connectors on the 260 are connected up?

How does GPu-z report the bus revision type? ie Pci-e 1.0, 1.1, 2.0 for both board and card?

Have you tried reseating the card?

You could try installing the Intel Chipset drivers (inf), with the latest version.

I have the same problem. My previous card(HD 3870) worked flawlessly before I upgraded to a GTX 260 Core 216. I've tried everything that was posted here but to no avail. Just wondering if you solved your problem.
