Default Gigabyte GA-P35-S3G and Q6600 Overclocking

    Hey Guys,

Was wondering if anyone could help me?

I'm currently trying to overclock my processor to 3.0+, have had a fiddle, but each attempt has resulted in my computer turning off after seconds of booting, then resetting the BIOS settings. Even when trying something as low as 2.8.

    Here's my spec.

    MotherBoard: GA-p35-s3g
    Processor: Intel Q6600 GO stepping
    HeatSink: Arctic Cooling Pro7
    RAM: 4X 2gig 800MHz 2.1V

Can anyone recommend any settings to try out?

I've set the RAM ratio down to 2.0, and set the voltage to match also.

Any help would be much appreciated!!

    Tim_gti,

I've had a GA-P35-S3G for one year now and luv it.

    1. How long have you been using your GA-P35-S3G?

    2. When you load "Fail Safe" settings does the PC works fine?

    3. Do you understand the difference between BIOS changes on our MOBO and more traditional MOBOs?

Default Re: Gigabyte GA-P35-S3G and Q6600 Overclocking

    Chers for replying guys.

I've been using the boaard for close to a year now. Only just started to try and overclock though.

Here's the RAM I'm using, 2 2 gig sticks here:

    OCZ 4GB Kit (2x2GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 Memory NVIDIA SLI READY EDITION CL5 - Ebuyer

    And 2 of these sticks:

    OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC6400 Titanium Memory CL4(4-4-4-15) - Ebuyer

In regards to the template you've included, do you want me to give you my settings as they are now? Or the settings when I try and overclock?

    hehe np!

But the laugh is because I bet that ONLY using the pair with the tighter timings is the way to go.

Right now, both sets should be running at the slower of the two sets.

And, you only need 4 GB RAM for vista and 2 GB RAM for XP. (Gaming wise.)

We'll see what Lsdmeasap says. He's the Man!

    c ya tim_gti!

Yeh I heard from a few sources that the RAM is causing the problems. I need 8gig as I use my computer primarily for video editing.

    I see.

Well for now, post your BIOS settings with the template Lsdmasap provided and he'll spot the obvious. One little setting he suggested this week for me made an enormous improvement on my PC.

    Cool!

Now list the settings when you attempt to overclock.

    And your BIOS version.

And add your System Summary to your sig.
