    Default GA-x48-ds5 and e6550

I have GA-x48-ds5 and e6550, with 4x1gb ram 8500, and i am trying to hit 3.20ghz, had some problems, when using 2.66D its ok, system buts windows run, but a cant get past 2.94ghz, when i put 2.0D and multiplayer to 6, i can get fsb to 533, and ram is that frequency, so i get 1066mhz, and cpu 3.19ghz, which is what i want, but i cant seem to get it to work, im noob so please help. :)

Well I think that you are running your FSB too high for a start. There are many settings that need to be adjusted before you can achive such a feat. Now it would help if you posted some more settings of your MIT screen please. Perhaps you could use this thread http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/gigabyte-x48-ds4-28241/ to get an idea of some settings to use. But you will need to post more information about your Ram for a start.

Iam back, that was fast. :)))) Question? What is better to have 3.4cpu and 972mhz ram, or 3.2 and 1066mhz ram. Becasue i can go with 6X533, or 7X486. What is faster, more bandwindh or cpu speed?

Stable CPU speed over all other settings. The CPU is where all he proformance in your computer comes from. The faster the better!!A higher ram speed is great but with most applications you will see very little difference from 800-1200.You may be better off with the slower ram speed and close up the timmings.

ok, then cpu, thk. One more thing, i see you have 2x640gb RAID0, i have 2X500gb WD, and im wondering how much of performance do you get RAID or no raid. Because if one dies i loose all my stuff. Is it worth it?

And something else :)))) Iam full of questions, haha. Whats with the latency, i have 5-5-5-15, but my bios MB gives me 5-7-7-18, is that a really big diffrence on performance or just another trick to buy better ram?

I will answer this 1st i do have a "old" 160gig HD that i use to back up any thing u do not want to loose.I have not had any problems so far and from other with RAID setups they do fail from time to time but i have many friends that have had this happen and were able to repair RAID with the only lose being the time it takes to repair. It all depends on what you are using your comp for i have 1000hrs of home type video that i am putting on to DVDs so the RAID helps with editing them and time it takes to put it all together. The computer restarts faster but with most things it just a preference thing. I wanted to make computer as fast as possible and doing the RAID0 I achieved that.

2ND Question the timings for memory with being 5-5-5-15 gives a faster response to apps. But the real performance gains are in the advanced settings. If i set mine to AUTO i get same timings 5-7-7-24.Setting manual is the way to go If you post what memory you have and how much 2x1 gig or what ever it is i'm sure there is some 1 that has same or similar ram and can give you a range to start with closing the timings up.I hope that this helped i have gotten all most all advice for setting up my current computer on these forums and most guys can be a great help and have a ton on knowledge.
