    Default GA EP45 UD3P - front usb problems, please help !

    I just finished putting together a system using the GA-EP45-UD3P (rev1.1) motherboard.

    Installed Vista 64 bit and everything seems to be running fine except for the front usb port.

    Here is what happens when I plug in a usb flash drive into the front usb port.

    1) I get a message saying "USB Device not Recognized", and the device does not work.

    Here is what the device drivers look like before the USB drive is plugged in

    After its plugged in this is what the device drivers look like.

    2) Now if disable the very first enhanced host controller, while leaving the unrecognized drive plugged in, it recognized the device.

    Now I can use the device. Remove it and plug it back in and it works fine. However if I reboot the computer, leaving the first enhanced hub controller disabled, and then try to use the front usb port it once again does not work.

    I have tried uninstalling all the usb devices and rebooting, but I still have the same problems.

    The other thing I have found out is that the front usb may not be a 2.0 given that the case I am using is about 6 years old.

    Can anyone help ?

    Thanks,

    sanjay.

    Use the 1394 header next to the usb for a flash drive.

    But this does not solve the problem of the front USB ports not working. The back ones all work fine. I can come up with work around solutions, but I would still like to make the ones in the front work like they should.

    Sorry should not try to speed read really.

    Make sure the front panel usb is connected in to the correct m/board header, which i am sure you have done.

    Install drivers from the Gigabyte disc.

    Failing that, try windows update because this may find some drivers for you.

    UNfortunately, I have done all of the above. The USB is wired correctly, since it does work when the the first enhanced usb hub is disabled. I installed the latest drivers.

    Any version of Vista shouldn't need USB drivers, but some older flash devices do have problems of their own.

    Does this happen with any USB device, or just one?

    Maybe a BIOS upgrade?

    Also check again that the front USB cables are correctly wired (physically check!).

    Exclamation Re: GA EP45 UD3P - front usb problems, please help !

    Funny that I just found this thread searching for the exact same issue.

    I'm also using a UD3P, everything is working fine except for my front USB.

    My Xaser II 6000 Case has the 9 pins separated individually and I have them set like this on the Mobo.

    Code:
                                        0----------->Shield
                         GND<----------00----------->GND
                         D+2<----------00----------->D+1
                         D-2<----------00----------->D-1
                        VCC2<----------00----------->VCC1
    Basically the worst part about all this is that only some of my USB devices work when plugged into the front ports. My Mouse works 100%, my 1GB flash drive works 100%, my friends promotional BF2142 preorder USB Key chain doesn't ever work, my Sony MPD-AP20U works 100% and finally and the worst part of it all my Sidewinder 2 and PSX/PS2 --> USB Adapter do not work either. (my case is very heavy so having to plug X item into the back when it should work in the front is incredible annoying.)

    Unless the Gigabyte manual lables the header wrong there seems to be a real issue, and by the way I just upgraded my computer and I was using a Asus A7N8X-Deluxe and the headers worked 100% on all my devices. :-| so I dunno what is wrong here unless my case is too old for this Mobo.
