    Here is what I did. I'm feeling a little foolish as this is the first thing I should have done. In my defense, I've never seen a board boot when there was something shorting.

    Determined to get this working today or RMA it. I removed the board from the case, inspected it thoroughly, and made certain every thing was seated properly. Without trying any settings, other than the auto detect, I booted it into Windows into 4Gb dual channel mode. Feeling brave, I put all 4 sticks in and booted Windows with 8Gb.

    Put everything back in the case and got the reboot loop.

    Spent the better part of the morning trying to figure out where the short was. I'm still not sure I found it, but it is working now with all four sticks in and I didn't have to change any settings. Perhaps a bad psu wire that "fixes" when the case is oriented differently? Some concern as this is the case that the previous board decided to blow a good part of its capacitors in. Is there such a thing as a bad case?

    Hmm, sounds odd. But hey, at least you have fixed it and now have a running system!!

    Ya, a case could be bad. Do you use Motheboard washers between your board and tray and between the top side of the board and the screws? Just wondering.
