    Have used TinyPic... and will try your new MCH recommendations too. I had been incrementally working the MCH down from 1.24 and got a days stability out of 1.16, but will go even lower as you suggest in your last post.

    A bit off topic maybe, but I am sure I speak on behalf of a lot of people who come to this forum when I say what a huge appreciation I have for the knowledge and support you so generously and magnanimously share - THANKS

    Here are my current settings below, which are giving me a very stable platform to type this on, but I feel like I've been here before only to wake up in the morning and find that it is time for Ghost to rescue another munted system.

    The only change here from the general minor tweaks up and down MCH Core and DRAM Voltage is that I also changed MCH Frequency Latch from Auto to 333 which SPD on CPU-Z confirms makes no difference.

    This current setup doesn't have the intermittent Pause I have suffered on a few other bios configs. You'll be in the middle of doing something and suddenly the mouse just freezes in place for up to 15 seconds. Monitoring this in Task Manager shows a corresponding CPU spike in both cores. ?? Then it's fine for another who knows how many minutes?

    I find it easier to leave MCH on auto, but you may not? There is no difference in setting it and choosing the same Memory Multi with a corresponding letter, in 333 Strap case those would end in B of course.

    CPU-z SPD tab will always be the same, it is what is programmed into your memory sticks SPD Chip for EPP boards or Auto to use. Not sure what you meant by that comment, so just wanted to let you know it will always be the same.

    About your last comment I quoted above, that could be anything and is not always a memory issue. It could be a driver, virus, spyware, or possibly even your graphics card (Not likely). But not always a memory issue. If those settings above, and two sticks of ram pass memtest86+ for 5-8 hours then your memory is likely for sure not the issue when it comes to system freezes like you mention, but something else.

    Hey, so did you ever call and get a hold of anyone about a RMA? I know you have the new sticks already, but it does sound to me like maybe one is faulty?

    Are you up for overclocking, do you have the cooling for it? I ask this because, and I know if you are not a overclocker you may not want to hear it, sometimes a overclocked system once made stable will be much more stable then stock and often may be easier to get that way as well. Even if you do not want to overclock, a small overclock to maybe 3.6 would do you some good and let you find stability easier possibly

    So just wondering.......


    All of the above settings look to be ok and should be trouble free, I mean none look "off" and should be causing a issue. Can you please use those for a bit again with both sticks, and post me a screenshot of this app so I can see what you are getting applied for some of those Auto settings, thanks >>>
    Tweakers.fr ~ Memset 4.0

    What you may want to try is .70 MCH Ref, although I have only used it while overclocking I do find .76 to be too much. If you need to know how to try setting this properly, please do see the link in my signature. MCH Ref looks to be the only thing I would change in your above settings aside from manually setting things lower actually for better performance. So since you are having issues that would not be advised now, but setting MCH Ref would, I would test out .68-.73 and see how they are. Please do see my signature link so you know the proper way to set that

    Hi Lsdmeasap, thanks for such a detailed reply. Been a busy week so I only got around to switching those new stix back in last night. Before that I had a play around with the single (old) 1GB, trying to get rid of that freezing. Underclocking to 800MHz seemed to all but get rid of it, but your suggestion of setting MCH Ref to .700V seems to have fixed it all together :>)<o:p></o:p>

    So then I switched over to the 2.0V Stix on those settings (pasted below in NEXT post) and then ran memtest for 24 hours with Zero errors!<o:p></o:p>

    Hmm, looks good for 800Mhz. So did you try out 1066 yet?

    I do see some issues, these should all be on Auto for both channels so they don't cause you issues >>>

    Thanks Lsdmeasap - that last config crashed too after 24 hours of zero errors in memtest. And then got into a loop of the windows startup logo appearing for 2 secs before a blindingly fast BSOD/reset.

    Those setting are all auto.

    Might as well have a crack at 1066 tonight. Will let you know how that goes. Good luck with the 4 pages!! I really appreciate the help.
