    Guys (okay, guys is an assumption so I assume I will not be attacked for that) ...come back later and read what you've both read. You both sound like you're offended.

    I posted the question because it was in this thread that some of use with the same setup are OC'ing. Makes it a little easier than sifting through several threads and I'm fine waiting for a reply.

    Psycho101's response was just fine. I can see how it could be taken out of context but I also agree with the fact that it's perspective and also see that it was meant to be helpful.

    For now I'm going to hang here and see if I get a response. I feel I've built a bit of a report with some in this thread and I'm not in a big hurry.

    I'm sure others will be able to give some more specific info for your particular config. My suggestion of the search was purely to help expedite some nfo your way. Sometimes replies take time and having some existing stuff to look at in the mean time is good.

    To further isolate the sometimes mad amount that comes up on a search, terms like "E8400 [insert your model] RAM" or "E8400 Template 4ghz" will make the results more manageable.

    Have you already posted your full specs? If so then cool, if not, post them up and I'm sure anyone with a similar config will post if they can. Often reading some general experiences can also give you guidance with your own config. Things like having to lower MCH ref @ 1.2VTT for over 400 FSB on dual cores seems to be an almost universal need. The same goes for MCH core. It's wierd because less can be more on MCH as in lower V can work better.

    Hope you get some answers. I didn't contribute directly as I have no E8xxx experience.
    Yes, I have posted my specs in this thread probably a couple of times. It's been specific to my CPU and mb which really helps.

    I'm sure those who have been posting their own info have been involved in other things as well and may show up again at some point.

    Thanks for your concern and I appreciate your feedback on getting info.

    Was inquiring of those in the thread who had hit 4Ghz or higher and what their settings were. We had been discussing the E8400 and the Gigabyte EP45-UD3R. I hadn't seen a post in a while and there have been a couple of BIOS releases since this was last discussed much.

    Here is a very interesting graph that might interest you. It was made by using a linear regression using 7 samples. It is a relatively small sample size, but it might give you an idea what to expect from your cpu given your VID for your chip. The one thing to note is the fairly strong positive correlation between VID and voltage needed to reach 4ghz with an E0, E8400 cpu, with LLC off.

    Is the amount of RAM impacting your settings? Also, I guess I'm not clear on CPU#1 and CPU#2. This doesn't sound like you're referring to cores on a CPU. I'll start with getting clear on these first and come back to the graph later.

    No, I am not referring to cores on a cpu. I have two computers as per my sig. Cpu #1 for computer #1 and so forth. For computer#1, I went straight with 4x2gb. For computer #2, it was with 2x2gb. The bios settings for computer #2 were not optimized, so I probably could have tightened some of the memory timings and sub-settings, and maybe some voltages. I went straight to 4.25ghz after that and ended with these settings with 2x2gb of ram.

    After that I dropped in 2 more sticks of 2gb for computer #2, and had to raise my static tRead value from 10 to 11, and eventually had to increase my vcore from 1.28125v to 1.2875v. Surprisingly, I didn't have to raise my MCH from 1.22v even with 500fsb, and 4 sticks of memory. If I were to optimize computer#2 @ 4.25ghz with only 2 stick of memory, I would probably try to tighten my memory timings and subtimings, lower my vdimm, and possibly lower my MCH. The rest I would probably leave alone.

    After that I dropped in 2 more sticks of 2gb for computer #2, and had to raise my static tRead value from 10 to 11, and eventually had to increase my vcore from 1.28125v to 1.2875v. Surprisingly, I didn't have to raise my MCH from 1.22v even with 500fsb, and 4 sticks of memory. If I were to optimize computer#2 @ 4.25ghz with only 2 stick of memory, I would probably try to tighten my memory timings and subtimings, lower my vdimm, and possibly lower my MCH. The rest I would probably leave alone.

    Will do. Wasn't thinking as I posted in this thread in the past but it's been going for some time. I'll get it up tomorrow. I've been running, at the settings I'll post, for some time now and have wondering about going to 4 Ghz or higher. I'm running a total of 4Gb of RAM on XP (32Bit - long story).

    What are you using to cool your CPU?

    By the way I'm using v1.1 of this board with BIOS F7.
