What card did you have before. It may help to use something like driver cleaner or something like that to clean any drivers from old cards first. Also Go into Device manager and uninstall and delete old driver files and then when bindows restarts run the Nvidia 182.06 driver straight away. If that doesnt work, short of doing a fresh bindows install RMA the card. Also see what temp it is running at. Use Real temp 3 or riva tuner or something.

Real Temp 3 is good and simple. It shows your cpu temps to

Ahh heres my main cpu..no oclocking going on tho:(
    My graphics are MSI 9600GT 512 ddr3.driver version 180.48
Using Rivatuner(linked above) to overclock to 712gpu(650)and 1000mem(900).
Rivatuner has nice graphs that show your gpu temp and fan speed over time/load.
Maybe dload 3dmark03 and 3dmark06 (the free editions)and test your card thru those. If it runs the tests ok it should be alright.
I assume everything is on standard settings?
There is also a built in prog in windows dxdiag(dxdiagnosis) to test your display/sound .
Go to bottom left click on start run enter dxdiag on the line and hit enter.
It will test your display and sound too under direct x.
Your card seems to be running ok tho just locks up under games?
It does sound like temperatures, but since your card isnt overclocked ..
Try taking off the side panel while you run the games, maybe there is very poor airflow around your card ?.
Is the card fan working ok or is it passive cooling?.
Thats all I can think of aside from what was mentioned above.
The Guru3D site mentioned above has a big long guide about setting up video cards, reinstalling drivers etc.

GPU-z Will also show you GPU temps >>>

Do you have your Ram voltage set properly, Peformance Enhance set to standard, and added MCH Voltage for that 2x2GB? Just checking as these may also be part of your issue

    Looks like another RAM problem.
Please listen to lsdmeasap and do that. I was also thinking my video card is faulty
but it was the DDR that was making these freezes!!!
Your BIOS maybe needs tweaking even with no overclock. Try to set PCI frequency to 100MHz. Read about your DDR2 RAM and set DDR voltage to match it's specs.
The Static tRead Value in the advanced memory timings section of BIOS may need increase +1 or +2. That was in fact what stopped my freezes.
