Default Onboard audio jacks doesn't output sound

I never had this issue until recently.

I have a GA-EP45-DQ6 and there is some problem with the audio jack. I have a 5.1 speaker system and right now there is 2 speakers including the subwoofer producing sound only. I tried updating and rolling back drivers but no avail. When I plug in the audio jacks the Realtek HD Audio Manager does detect what kind of jack has been plugged in but no sound is being produced. I usually use the "Front Speaker Out" option and that usually works but I hear nothing coming out of the speaker.

So can somebody tell me whats going on, thanks.

Can you post screenshots of the settings window? Does the problem exist in both OSes?

I think the option you are looking for is in the Realtek Speaker manager software. Its a little confusing the layout it uses. Make sure you have the latest drivers for the OB sound. I have seen windows download realtek drivers in windows update and that has caused some dramas for people in the past. Even try uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling if all else fails.

Here is a screenshot of the settings:

I've tried setting it on 2, 4, 6 and 8 channels, still the same thing.

Yes I tried uninstalling and reinstalling to new and old drivers, same thing happens. And this problem exists in both OS's.

Ok So when you have it set up with 4 or more speakers and they are all plugged in, what happens when you do the sound test thing on the main page? Just for interest sake what speakers do you have?

When I do the sound test I can only hear the first two being performed, the rest I can't hear.

I'm using some cheap generic 5.1 sound system I bought years ago. I tested my sound system on another Gigabyte motherboard and it worked perfectly.

You can try uninstalling the dirvers in the control panel, then running driver sweeper to completely get rid of any Realtek driver files and then re-install drivers. Mabye also try some different driver versions.

What do you have enabled in control panel sounds as the default device?

And yes, I would also advise you uninstall the drivers, in safe mode. Uninstall RealTek and microsoft UAA driver then reboot back to safe mode only and install the latest RealTek driver direct from RealTek >>>
