    Default UD5 temps

I just got my Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 today and started for the glory. My question is, In the bios CPU tems shows 31c at 4Ghz Windows loads and Real Temp shows 37c-43c average at idle. Once I run EasyTune the CPU temp meter only shows 28c. Which one Of the 2 in Windows do I trust? Also once I load any real load test the temp skyrockets.. mid 70's. (That could be a seating of the Heatsink issue). I started off with a guide on Overclocking this rig.. Slowy I have reduced the voltages on the Vcore and Qpi/Vtt. with lots of sucess.. Temps keep going down. I put this rig together about 2 weeks ago. I have had no issues what soever. Was running 3.4 Ghz with stock cooler. Temps were just over what I have now at 4Ghz and Bohemoth cooler. I will be loosing the swing out arm and the nifty green side fan with this case and the Noctua. Oh and Hi there.. :)

The BIOS and Easytune show you CPU Temps, RealTemp or CoreTemp show you CORE Temps that is why you see a difference.

Core Temps are what you want to worry about

I am not sure how that cooler is for temps on this board, but I can say that sounds about fairly normal for 4Ghz. I get 62-66 or so under water at 4Ghz. How are you running 4Ghz anyway? I mean 21x190 or 20x200, ect?

I'll post stats when I get home. I am really stoked about the results I have got at this point. Especially not really understanding what settings I have changed except for the Blck (FSB) Reading post about voltages makes my head spin.. heh I do have questions though, and will do so after I get home and get exact numbers. Thanks for the reply...

    Clock ratio 20x
    Qpi x36
    Uncore x13
    Bclk 200
    Pci-e locked at 100
    Standard Performance
XMP disabled ( Can't get it to configure correctly when overclocking "yet")
    Sys Mem Multi 6x @1200
    Load-Line Calibration Enabled
    CPU core 1.37500
    QPI/VTT Volatge 1.440
    IOH 1.100
    Dram 1.640
The deal is When I set SPD to 8.0 which puts my ram at 1600 it won't even post. I just started playing with it lastnite so I feel fortunate to have reached as far as I have. All the info I have read on the boards has allowed me to achieve this. Last system I built was 5 years ago. So my OC knowledge is outdated. IC7 with a 2.4
I ran performance test and it finished.
It runs just fine but I have not run any stress tests. I don't have the need to.. As long as it surfs and plays the games I play.. All is good..
Now I have to figure out better case cooling due to I live in the valley in California and the summers get extremely hot here.. Mini refer comes to mind.. :)

I actually got to Desktop with 205x 20 didn't play around too much but temps were reasonable. Was getting late and didn't want to trash it. I have a screenie of EasyTune just need to put it on web so I can link it..

Now I have an issue. Cpu-z and Easytune both show
    Core speed is 547mhz
    Multiplier at 3x.
    Bus speed 190
    QPi link 3420
Tried loading optimized defaults and booted into win at stock speed.. multiplier is still at 3x
Temps still running like it's overclocked when it is.. but performance test is dismal. Any idea whats happened? I changed out the Power supplywith the corsair lastnite and all was fine. No idea why multi is showing 3x..
Oh and when I look at Sys properties , it shows processor at 3.8Ghz. same as bios settings

I need to know what max:
    CPU core
    QPI/VTT Volatge
    IOH
    Dram
Can be set up to and not trash Motherboard/Processor.
Also which ones need to be within .5v of each other?
Just trying to see what the capabilities of this rig is. So far have got to desktop at 4347Mhz
    20+1 x207
    CPU core 1.40
    QPI/VTT Volatge 1.36
    IOH auto (1.100)
    Dram 1.64
Memory rated at 1600 is sitting at 1656
Temps at idle 42 44 39 38 ( Sitting on my kitchen table. heh)

You need to keep QPI/Vtt and Dram voltage within .5 of each other. So like if you have 1.35 QPI/Vtt set, you can use up to 1.85 Dram voltage

As for the rest of some of those, here is Intel's posted info

Lsdmeasap, I really do appreciate the responces. I hunted around Intel's site looking for that info. I'm actually gaining a understanding of how this bios works.
So, The Qpi/Vtt and CPU core voltages both Attribute to the temps of the cores? Ie, If you add voltages to both they work together to increase temp Vs only increasing 1 leg adds less heat? Just trying to figure out how to get 4Ghz stable with lowest temps. I have so far made it to 4368 with:
    208x20+1
    Core 1.40625
    QPI/VTT 1.36
    Dram 1.64
    Real Temp: 41 44 39 38--- Idle
Don't remember what Mhz memory was set at.
    Can surf but no benching.
