    Default OC Q9650 on EP45-UD3P

    G'day, just got my Q9650 and am about to install it on my EP45-UD3P

    Would anyone have good settings to OC an Q9650 to 3.8-3.9Ghz. I have the F7 Bios and OCZ Platinium 1066.
    On my previous E8500 I could use stable 420 Fsb (did not try more).

    Would appreciate to get someones settings to start.

    Please change your sig to say ThermalRIGHT Ultra 120 Xtreme, don't mention Thermaltake unless it's necessary ;)

    I would got for 450x900, to do that I would go with a RAM multi of 2.0D first and then increase RAM speed later.

    As far as voltages go, set CPU termination to about 1.35V, and CPU PLL to 1.55, maybe 1.65V (if it's not stable with 1.55V). Also increase MCH Core by 0.1V and set RAM Performance Enhance to standard and set the RAM voltage to 2.1V. Enable loadline calibration and try with a VCore of about 1.35V. If it doesn't work try icnreasing VCore a little.

    Thanks yes I would appreciate to get the best suggestions for a 3.8Ghz config. What shall I leave in auto what shall I tweak manually

    My OCZ memory is as follows

    OCZ Platinum 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066

    I would like to get the best settings in order to reduce stress on components whereever possible, thus not beef up too much ;)

    Well all your voltages you will need to find for your CPU and such, as I can only offer a general range because all CPU's and boards are different of course.

    Vcore, Vtt (Termination) and PLL should always be manually set as Auto will WAY Overvolt them. Do not manually set the ref voltages to what you see for stock, leave them in auto until you have some knowledge about tweaking them, if you ever need/want to.

    I have the same system, different memory. I can't get stable above 3.5ghz. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

    Memory:
    G.SKILL 4GB (2x2GB)
    Newegg.com - G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

    Processor:
    Intel Q9650 3.0Ghz

    Motherboard:
    Gigabyte EP45-UD3P (F8 BIOS version... someone told me this may be the problem-- known for stability issues)

    Air cooled. I had it up to 4.05 stable after a 6-hr test and when I ran MS Flight Simulator X for 20 mins, it crashed. Core temps never rise above 60C. I know I'm new to these boards but if anyone could suggest some M.I.T. settings?
