    Default MA790XDS4 issues

    Hello all,

I got an MA790XDS4, and sometime ago when i was closing my computer case, i either shorted the circuit by a plug that was close to the case gaps. or it was something else, but either way the system froze though i could still move mouse and try to open things in windows.

After i rebooted by reseting the computer, it was noticiable slower, and one thing that i notice is that the frequencies move a bit(around 1 to 3 mhz sometimes) i do know that is normal in systems with spread spectrum. though my motherboard bios doesn't have that option so im not sure if its enabled by default or even exists.

Using the default bios(f4) without TLB patch erratum will cause the system to freeze and lockup during boot after windows logon.
with the TLB it will still freeze and lockup but only sometime after.

is the cpu failing or the northbridge/motherboard?

Run Prime 95 in blend mode for a few hours, that inidcates whether the CPU, RAM or northbridge is failing.

How exactly do you notice that the system is slower?

Thanks for answering, running it now. in 8 minutes so far the only thing i have noticed is that core 3 and 4 have finished 4 tests. while core 1 is still on 3rd and core 2 never finishes its first test

obviously leaving it for a few hours on :)

The start up now takes a while, usually 4-5 minutes after windows logon.

And in games that use a lot of cpu instead of GPU(mmorpg's) there was an huge loss in performance

Left it run for close to 2 and half hours and no errors or anything though not all cores were going at the same speed, attached a screenshot of how it was going.

    the log file output was:

By start-up you mean the time it takes after entering your WIndows password until the desktop becomes usable/everything has finished loading?
If this is the case then this might be a problem with the mainboard and hard disk, how long the start-up takes is pretty much determined by your HD, because it needs to load many small files and HDs are pretty slow at doing that.
Please download Crystal Disk Mark, run it and post a screenshot (print screen, then paste into Paint). That will tell me whether your HD is running as fast as it should or if there is a problem with it.

Hm, that is slower than a recent 3.5" HD should be, but not so slow to explain you noticing a severe slowdown/less FPS in games.
On current HDs you usually get about 95/38/0.5 read performance, the fact yours is below that points towards a driver problem, maybe some drivers got corrupted. I would uninstall the chipset drivers in the control panel,r eboot, and install the newest versions.

This issue may be caused by a lot of different things though, so it is just trial and error if we want to find the cause.
