Angry MA78GM-S2h issues installing Vista 64 bit in a RAID 0 setup

    hi

    i have the following setup:

    Motherboard: GIGABYTE MA78GM-S2h (ver1.1)
    CPU: Phenon II X4 940
    RAM: 4GB DDR2 Corsair Dorminator PC8500
    HDD: 2x 400GB Samsung HDD
    VGA: Asus Radeon HD4850 512mb DDR2
    PSU: 400w

Im trying to install Vista 64-bit on my system with a RAID 0 setup. I have enabled RAID in the BIOS and created 2 RAID 0 arrays, 1 for Windows, 1 for my files. Now then... i've downloaded the latest Vista 64-bit RAID drivers from Gigabyte's support site to my flash disc. And when Vista installation prompt me for the drivers, it direct it to my flash disc and it says:

"No new devices could be found. Make sure the driver files are correct and located on the driver installation media."

...!?... I've tried the same with the x86 drivers, here i have some progress by detecting the drivers but after selecting them, i get the same error message.

Anyone got an idea how to solve this?

Did you extract the Drivers? They usually download as an .exe which is just a self extractor. Run the .exe and extract to your usb stick and see what happens.

You are putting the "Pre-Install" drivers on the USB Stick correct, just checking as there is two sets of RAID Drivers

You want this one for Vista 32/64 (Extract of course)>>

Just solved this puzzle myself... i was using a version of windows Vista called "Vista 64-bit Gamer Edition", a highly stripped version. Unfortunately it does not support RAID installation, so i installed the vista that came with my Laptop. Works fine now.

    Thanks for your input though.

I'm having the same exact issue with windows 7 RC.

    Here's my build:
    ASUS M4A79T Deluxe
    AMD Phenom II 955 BE
    4GB Mushkin DDR3 16000
2x WD 500GB black HDD in RAID 0
    ATI 4890

I loaded the RAID drivers on a thumb drive, and during setup it asked for them. I browsed to the thumb drive, they showed up, and were listed as compatible, so I clicked next. Got the green progress bar for a minute or two then "No new devices could be found. Make sure the driver files are correct and located on the driver installation media."

    Any ideas?

Nevermind... found the forum by a search engine and didn't realize I was in a Gigabyte area. Sorry!

Do you still need help? I may be able to help, but you are right we don't have much Asus knowledge here, but RAID is RAID ya know

Be sure you have set RAID In the BIOS and already created your RAID Array in the RAID ROM for your board and if you are loading the correct driver it should find your array

Thanks very much for responding. I found out the issue is something else. It's actually looking for a driver for the CD/DVD player. Still can't figure out how to make it work though. Could only find a firmware update, and don't know how to apply it without an OS on the system.
