Default Info on setting up a raid 1 on a ga-ex58-uds

I have a ga-ex58-uds running vista 64. I would like to set up a raid 1 for storage. I have window on it own drive. Everything I have seen so far on setting up the raid looks like window needs to be reinstalled. It also looks like windows would be placed on the raid. Is this the case? Is there info out there to set up a raid1 without put a new windows install in the system and have having the OS outside of the raid?

    Thanks John

OS does not have to be on the RAID1 array. The ICH (10, I presume?) supports plain disks in the raid mode. So you can have two disks as RAID1 array and a third as "non-array".

The reinstallation looks inevitable though, because the raid-driver is needed for accessing the plain disk too. Note absolutely sure though.

Do you have the system set up as AHCI, RAID, or IDE in the BIOS? There are ways to do it from any of the configurations.

So you all squared away here or not?

If you used IDE install you may need to reinstall windows using the RAID Driver, just not installing your OS to the RAID array.

You could try the method I listed in Post #4 here >>
