    Default EP35C-DS3R Ram Problem

    Hi.

I'm using my e8500(e0) at 3.8ghz.But i've got problems with rams.
My rams are 4x1gb Hyperx 1066mhz.

When i was using 2x1gb setting, i could use these rams 1200mhz(2,2v) without problem. But after doing it 4x1gb,i've faced lot of problems.

I can't give voltage higher than +0,2 to dimms and i can't change speed to higher than 960mhz.If i do i am getting serious artifacts and windows don't boot.

    I tried 960mhz 5-5-5-15 timings but it wasn't stable(Crashed in orthos).So i am using 960mhz with 5-7-7-22 timings now

    My voltage settings here:

    cpu vcore:1,27500
fsb overvoltage:+0,2(i'don't know why but it isn't stable at 0,1)
mch overvoltage:+0,2(i've been told that if i use 4x1 then i should increase mch)
    ddr2 voltage:+0,2

Am i doing something wrong? or this mobo don't like overclock?

It is stable at 960 mhz 5-7-7-22 but not 5-5-5-15 with +0,2 voltages.Maybe if i give more voltage to mch i could use it higher but i don't want to take this risk.

    The serial number is KHX8500D2/2GN.
You can look here : Kingston Technology Company - HyperX DDR2 -

Thanks, but your ram is not listed on that page.

    I see KHX8500D2/2G but no KHX8500D2/2GN

I need to know for sure why the "N" is there as the KHX8500D2/2G is rated up to 2.25V and maybe yours is not?

Can you link me to the page you bought it on, I googled that number for shopping results and do not find it.

If you cannot, can you please post me a image of CPU-z SPD tab >>
    CPUID

I need your Full settings you are using so I can advise you, so please fill out the above template and post back

I'm sorry for wrong code, it is KHX8500D2K2/2GN(written on the package) .
In kingston site,it is shown as 1066mhz,5-5-5-15 at 2.2v.
But i can't give voltage higher than 2.0v(when using 2x1,i could give 2,2v).So this is the problem i think.
When i was using without overclock,it was running 1066,5-7-7-24 at 1.8v

    spd table:

and this is the most high and stable settings that i reached.

    so what do you think?
is there any noticable difference with 1066 vs 960 and 5-5-5-15 vs 5-7-7-22

Why can you not set 2.1-2.2V I am confused? More ram should not be causing you to not be able to set voltages, are you saying you think it is?

577-22 is terrible timings, I would not be using those. At 960 you can for sure use 555-15/18

If you will give me your settings that you are trying that fail I can advise back with proper settings for you so you can get your ram running correctly

And back to your original post, about Orthos Crashing. You need to run Memtest86+ on your memory for 5-10 full passes before you even run Orthos, that way you know if your ram is passing Memtest86+ but you fail orthos then your issue is likely other voltages or settings and not your ram at all. Here is the latest Version of Memtest86+ (V. 2.11) >>>

    This is bios:

    CPU:400X9,5 = 3.80 GHZ
    RAM SPD:400 X 2,4,
PCI Frequency is set to 100mhz

    CPU Voltage: 1.27500
    DDR2 Voltage: +0,2
    FSB OVERVOLTAGE:+0,2
    MCH OVERVOLTAGE:+0,2
    PCI VOLTAGE: NORMAL

With these settings i can't use spd higher than 2.40.If i switch rams to 1000 mhz, system can't open and getting artifacts.

With 960mhz and 5-5-5-15 timings, windows opened but i got artifacts in Crysis after 30 minute play and it crashed 15 minutes in orthos(in ram test not blend). Then i changed it to auto.Bios set it 5-7-7-22.Now i haven't got artifact problem in Crysis and Orthos could run 1 hours at ram test.

As i remember the artifact caused by increasing ddr2 voltage or ram spd.

I will try 5-5-5-15 , 960mhz with +0,3 ddr2 voltages to be sure and write results here for you..

You are right.System opened with +0,3 voltages,960mhz and 5-5-5-15 timings.
Now running orthos ram test and write back

It is stable now with 5-5-5-15 timings and +3 ddr2 voltage. But i can't see much difference between 5-7-7-24,in benchmarks.
I tried 1000mhz with +0,3v and +0,4v.Windows not opened and got artifacts.
So 960mhz is the highest speed i can get from this motherboard i think...
    Do you agree?
