    Default ep45-ud3r dual channel issues

    Hello everybody,

    I have been going through some research about my system that I have built myself and found that this site is quite informative with plenty of active discussions. So I decided to dive in and present to everyone the issue that I am currently having.
    I just bought a set of G Skill F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK. As suggested, I ran memtest on each memory stick individually to check any DOA's, each one passed. I then installed them in dual channel in slots 1 & 3, and ran memtest. My system just reboots almost immediately, I think during test 2. I then went to BIOS and loaded OPTIMAL DEFAULT SETTINGS, tweaked the Memory Voltage to 2.1 and set the timings recommended by the packaging of the sticks. Then I ran memtest again with no improvement to the issue. I tried installing both sticks in slots 2 & 4, with the same results. However, I tried installing my old pair of Kingston 667 Value RAM (KVR667D2N5K2/2G) in slots 1 & 3, ran memtest without any problems. I have read lots of forums discussing almost similar problems of this mobo and this memory combination but I still haven't found any definite solution to the problem. I would really, really appreciate any input on this. As for my level of expertise, I would consider myself a newbie, considering the complexities of the components nowadays. Here are the specs of my system, if these helps:

    no real details.
    Use the template for bios settings and post maybe?
    Is 430w enough?
    What memory multiplier are u using.
    What mch?
    At this stage Ive been throwing in voltages up to 2.4v on memory just to see how far I could hold 4-4-4-12 memory timing (475 fsb).
    2.1 in bios isnt 2.1 running either,it could be as low as 2.05-2.06 on memtest load.
    Me id crank in 2.16 for whatever the memory timings are at 2.1v.
    Whats the power consuption of the E7400,have you a good overhead with the antec 430 w,
    How is the power split on the 2 rails,one for cpu and one for everything else+ how much for the 3 and 5 v.
    Unless something is broken on mbrd 2 sticks are gonna consume more power than one and need more mch voltage.. in general.
    Auto might not cover this.
    My Gskills the only voltage quoted is 1.8-1.9 at 800mhz 4-4-4-12 timing.
    They do work at 800mhz at auto and the bios says auto is 1.8 v.
    The thing is ,when the pc is running,the voltage being applied to the memory doesnt go under 1.82 under load.
    From my experience of applying voltage to memory on the board,that means "auto" is applying 1.86v minimum,if u see what I mean.
    I would suggest using .04-.06 over whatever voltage the memory says on it for its max performance,that way u could ensure its not the memory being undervolted.
    That wont guarantee anything,as you may have to vary the timings too and cpu and mch vlts.
    The way I look at it is ,my memory is the cheapest replaceable component $40 or so and Im not going crazy on it,
    It wont go over 1030 for testing but thats okish for me on (1:1) multiplier.

    With 2x2gb of 1066, the (G)MCH voltage needs to be 1.20 volts minimum. Running each memory module individually, the default MCH voltage of 1.1 volts is sufficient.

    If you underclocked your new memory to 800 or 667, both modules would probably run fine without errors.

    As KICK said, you need to post your full bios settings, preferably by using LSDME's generic bios template. Then we can help you further.

    hi everybody! thank you for your prompt replies. appreciate it. I ended up replacing my PSU with a Corsair tx650 and my problem was gone .
    anyway, I would like to overclock my system to at least 3.8 GHz ( about 1 GHz from Stock). Can anybody give me a step by step guide for oveclocking that would teach me really how to get the most of my set-up. I know, just google it. But I want a guide that would help me determine how to make the appopriate adjustments in anygiven situation, like when to increase CPU core voltage, NB voltage, FSB termination voltage, CPU PLL, etc. I just don't want to just make changes blindly and atleast have a rationale to almost every change I make. I know that the overclocking process involves trial and error, I just want to be a llittle bit more scientific with my method. As for my set up:
