                     +0.3V - 2.13
Cool! I think we can maybe see why your RAM (Mushkin XP PC2-8500 2x2GB http://www.mushkin.com/doc/products/...ail.asp?id=661) is better for OCing. I wonder what ProJim and Lsdmeasap would comment after seeing our results.

    Edit:

But don't ever use +4. And you weren't using HWMonitor like me. Go back and use it but don't test "+4". We need to know what the Voltages in Windows are.

Yes, I would like to see what they say.

It seems obvious that the MB reads the EPP on the memory.

    My comment:

You guys are getting way too hung in the details.

Actually it is good to know if your mobo is under or over-volting memory.

When I built my system, my mobo properly read the EPP profile and set the primary memory timings at the rated 5-5-5-15 specs and auto set the DRAM voltage to 2.05 volts, exactly at the EPP spec.

    Other thoughts:
High Sierra's Mushkin link should link directly to his ram's specs, not a page with several models shown.

We were only interested to see if we should give more voltage. I now assume that 2.064V is prolly enough.

What I need to solve is why I can't get higher than [3.74GHz (416x9)], but Bee Dee 3 Bee can go to 4.0. on same MB, same processor, different memory.

BTW that link does go directly to a page with only 2 part numbers listed. 991599 and 996599. They have identical specifications. One is 2GB kit, the other is 4GB kit.

I've been doing some research on the issue I'm having. "GOOGLE is your friend".

There seem to be lots of issues with P35 Motherboards, not just Gigabyte. Most issues seem to be worse than mine. Lots of people can't overclock at all without the MB reverting to stock settings. I at least can OC to 3.74 with no issues. Perhaps I should be satisfied.

I want to thank Bee_Dee_3_Dee for all the help and patience. Also profJim and Lsdmeasap.

Even with identical hardware setups, the optimal settings and overclock will be different. This is because some components are better than average and some will be worse. If you luck out and end up with "better" hardware, you'll probably be able to o/c higher and/or use lower volts or tighter memory settings.
