    If you do not set the Ref voltages, and leave them in auto then they will always be the same said % of Vtt shown above

    In your example of 1.42, if you leave all Ref's in Auto and then adjust Vtt to 1.42 all Ref voltages will still be the same percentage of Vtt (63/67/63)

    I Agree, not many guides or great posts for P45 or X58 yet. P45 BIOS is a beast compared to P35, so I can see why no one has taken the time to make that one yet

    yea everything makes sense now.

    I'm slowly inching towards the bottom VTT I can hit at the stock percentage. Once I get to that point, then I'll start playing with the percentage relationships.

    Currently at 1.4 VTT and 1.57 PLL primed for 18hrs before manually stopped.

    You can say that again. I know the BIOSes on all my three rigs like the palm of my hand (P35 chipset on C2D, 440BX chipset on dual-PIII and Triton 430TX on oldschool P1 MMX "insane edition", running at 300MHz! ), and on my first P45 build for a friend i spent 10 minutes just staring at the M.I.T screen trying to figure it out.

    I have an E8500 E0 Stepping and a EP45-UD3P ver 1.1.

    I got my memory stable at 500 fsb.. and can get a stable overclock of 3.75Ghz on stock cpu voltages.. but I can't seem to hit the magic 4Ghz...

    honestly it may not even be the clock skews, and it might be b/c i lowered my MCH ref and tweaked my dram/mch ref and upped my Vcore and pll a bit. There are a lot of variables here, so its hard to tell what's what. All I can say is the the skews didn't hurt. I've been priming so far at 4.2 for 4hrs and I'm going to keep it at 8 more hours before I stop it and then bring all the voltages down 1 at a time.

    And im not the first to play with skews, check this thread out

    DVO what are you specs and why are upping your ICH I/O and core? Leave those at stock. Define stable? Priming for how long?

    Up your Vcore a couple of notches, your VTT a couple of notches, PLL one notch and MCH Core another notch or two if your trying 500 and 8.5 multi. Leave the references on auto for now. Spend some more time reading up and and playing with the voltages. Leave the drives strength and all that memory stuff on auto. Tune that after you find a stable clock

    4ghz with E8500 EO is relatively easy. Might want to give 450*9 a go first, and then try 500 * 8.

    12 hrs prime stable at 4.2! Brought vcore down to 1.40625, VTT to 1.38, CPU ref to .944 and PLL to 1.59, and MCH ref to .8545. Priming once again.

    THANKS for the tips and a thread to check out, it looks awesome. As I am running at 500x4=2000 fsb.. it might really make a difference. Is your E8500 a E0 stepping? I am prime95 stable @ stock cpu voltages running 500 x 7.5 = 3.75Ghz for 16+ hours. I even played UT3 (Unreal Tournament 3)without issue. That what is driving me crazy.. How can I get a 600Mhz overclock on stock cpu voltages (and only 51/52 core temps).. but to get another 250Mhz I can't get it. I know the voltage increases are like exponential in value.. but the first increase shouldn't be that much. IMHO... But you gave me some new stuff to play with. I will get it.. I know the procs got it in it :))

    no problem dude, and yea my 8500 is an E0. you can upp you voltage to 1.4 'safely'. 1.36 vcore is the high super safe. but as you up that you have to up the vtt and mch core. Play around with these values and see what you get. Your not going to be getting 4ghz at stock unless you have a golden chip, which is probably 1 in a 1,000 if that. Your going to have to up the voltages if you want to hit 4, which you can do. Dont go over 1.4 VTT and dont up the MCH too much. Just play with everything gradually and see what happens

    I dont get what you mean by voltage and exponential values. If you dont go over 1.4 vcore and are around 1.36, you'll be fine.

    Also disable C1E in your bios
