How is the testing going? I am trying to hit 4.0. It has been a struggle.

Can you also post the Template that you used for 4Ghz. I am using what you have for 4.2, but lowered the FSB to get 4, my voltages are what you are using for 4.2. My temp are sitting in the mid 40's now which are a little high for my tastes.

    Thanks for the help.

well each chip is going to be different. What helped me the most was playing with the VTT and the reference voltages. I raised the CPU ref to around 69% of the VTT and lowered the mch ref one notch. That really seemed to help stabilize things. Read up LSD's article here on P45 overclocking. I was really struggling to hit 4 when I put everything on auto, its when I started playing with the refs that I got into a good stride.

I'm actually selling off my e8500 and I just bought a Q9550 from zipzoom. I've been doing a lot of video editing so I need more cores to make rendering/encoding a quicker job. I'll let you guys know how overclocking goes on that chip.

I also cut a 120mm blowhole on the top of my case (I had a 120 Aeroplex Evo grill from Aqua computers laying around) and it lowered my temps 10C! It was like having my side panel off. These old wavemaster cases are have horrible airflow (2 80mms in the front) and 1 80 exhaust so adding that helped a lot (I don't even have a fan on it yet!)
