    Default Issues with E8500 and Ep45 ud3p Ocing

    Initial Run 1: Using F9B bios; I hit 4.21 on air (just a crap coolermaster, better than stock though) with 8 gb ram (two sets of G.Skill F2-8500CL5D 4GBPK) at 1066 with my E8500 (E0); still testing. At idle with LLC disabled my chip fluctuated between 1.376 to 1.360 in idle, and then between 1.328 to 1.344 under load.

    Run 2: After reading up on Load Line Calibration, I decided to give it a go. Kept the Vcore the same (1.41250) and the voltage stayed at 1.392 and didn't dip. It also passed IntelBurn Test (5 runs) (1/2 mem). I'm going to try to bring it down a notch and play with it some more.

    Run 3: Brought it down to 1.40625 and it failed a run of IntelBurn Test (4of5). Restarted, set the voltage back to 1.41250 and then it blue screened on me before it got into windows. Where do I go from here?

    Run 4: Going to play with the mem dividers and bring the OC down a bit. Currently testing at 437 fsb, 266, 2.66D (latch), 1.41250 VCore.

    Run 5: Failed prime after 50 min but passed 5 pass run on Burntest with half mem on previous settings. Upped Vcore to the next bump, running intelburn at max 5 pass run, then will prime. Vcore detecting a 1.392, I'm not going over that, so will probably down clock a bit more if it fails.

    Run 6: Ran wayy to hot at the next notch, hit nearly 80C on burntest. Decided to drop down the multi to 8.5, upp the FSB to 471, and OC the ram a lil with a 5:6 ratio (forgot the divider). Will return with tests, and I wish I had a better cooler, I have Cathar's G5 silver waterblock (untouched) laying around and a BIX, all I need is a pump but I have a Coolermaster Wavemaster case (its tight in there and would require lots of hackin with the dremel) and I'm broke. Blurg.

    Run 7: I keep on bringing my OC down while sticking to the same volts, 9 multi, FSB 444, 2.4b divider, no oc of ram, and its not stable. Intelburntest thinks my proc is running at 4.2 (doesnt recognize that its at 9 not 9.5). Strange. When I increased all the volts one notch across the board, my comp blue screens. What's the deal here? There is no OC to the ram, all I was doing was upping vcore, term, pll, mch, mch term. I'm going to try to take out 2 sticks of ram and see what happens.

    sorry for the stream of process info. Just trying to make some sense of it. Right now I'm using Easy tune as a crutch and it got me to 4 ghz (9 multi, 450, oc'in ram, havent tested it yet).

    Im not sure what the q is ,
    If you see my sig my components need that much for stability,duals can take a bit more (it seems).
    4 sticks have more probs than 2 (in general).

    the question is what should I do to stabilize clocks. If i can boot and post at 4.2 without much fuss and be relatively stable as in only prime 95 fails and intelburn fails; I should be able to hit 4 ghz no? Am i missing a step? any suggestions?

    And i also wanted to know if anyone had 4 sticks and what they did to get a good OC

    I tried EasyTune, and it gave me a stable clock at 4ghz, unfortunately the PLL and Term are set really high. But the max temp was 65C (before it got to 69/70, prolly b/c of no LLC enabled so it dips on load). Is it safe the keep Term and PLL that high?

    I have been on the quest for 4.0 with my E8500 as well. I can only achieve a stable 3.8. I am using 1.33 volts and LLC is off. I have all other settings as auto.

    I haven't had any luck getting to 4GHz on my E8500.

    I would also suggest doing a normal restart to see if you settings will stick. I would seem to be stable with extended runs of Prime95 but then I would restart my machine and the BIOS would reset itself.

    Good Luck, and if you get stable at 4+ let me know as I am still striving!

    You should be really really careful with that CPU Termination voltage (VTT). Above 1.45 for a 45nm chip means the sucker's gonna fry, and i don't think it would be very nice for you. AnandTech fried a quad with 1.55v in a day (Q9550 i believe).

    yea i brought them down, PLL is at 1.61 and my term is at 1.44, vcore is the same. Is that still too high?

    Try bumping up your ram some,i asume its 1066 rated speed,I know im new here to but you should fill in your specs so you can get better help,imo

    I believe 1.44v VTT will be fine. If you need more juice, up the Vcore some, Gigabyte boards tend to undervolt the Vcore so it's safe to up it a few more notches.

    So far at these settings stated below I've been doing 10 intel burn tests (they take 9 min each for me, I think its b/c of the ram) and 11hrs and counting of Prime (the middle option, max heat, some ram). I think I hit a stable OC. I played L4D between the IBT and Prime without any hitches. I have a 4870 and its OC'd to 790, 1050. So now I move onto bringing down some voltages and benching with futuremark, sandra, etc

    After a lot of annoyance I have to say I'm pretty damn impressed with this board, with 8 gigs of ram I still hit a pretty respectable OC.
