Default GA-EX58-Extreme - new random lockups

    Hi All,

My setup has been stable since early Dec, and now all of the sudden I am getting random hard lockups. Not playing games or doing anything extreme -- maybe surfing web or launching a remote desktop session.

No new drivers or hardware lately.

    No event log messages.

I have run some diagnostics, but all seems ok when I try to make it crash.

Has anyone else seen similar issues with the Extreme?

    Thanks,
    Dave

I have the same motherboard and have not been having any issues. Though it has only been a week since I setup my whole rig.

What diagnostics have your run? Memory, Hard Drive, Video check?

Random lockups can be a lot of things from failing memory, bad PSU, failing motherboard etc. It might take a while to narrow this down. You have to start with the simple things first. Start running a Memtest86 on the machine and see what happens.

I had one board that would do something similar awhile back and it ended up being back capacitors.
