If you can't borrow some comparable memory modules, go ahead & contact Corsair. I've double checked the settings and I don't see anything that I might have overlooked. FWIW, your memory probably should have run error free with tighter 4-4-4-12 timings at the sub 900 MHz test speeds. In this case, the looser 5-5-5-15 timings should have allowed borderline modules to run error free.

Keep in mind that my normal consulting fee is based on kilobyte-miles.
You're not far enough away from me to make it worth my while to take the time to prepare you bill.

When you get replacement ram, start a new o/c thread & we'll take you into the never-never land of overclocking. In the meantime, spend some time reading LSDme's excellent guides.

Good luck & thanks for your kind words, I'm glad to have helped out.

It looks like your highest stable memory speed is around 850 MHz, even worse than the same memory in the other thread. If you check the memory's SPD in cpu-z, you'll probably find that it's spec'd to run at 1.8 volts at 800 MHz. Hey, we gave it every chance to run.

So, nothing needed here except better quality ram or what?

If you would like my suggestions before you decide to do anything let me know, and give me your latest Full settings again that are failing and I will advise.

I assume you have tested each stick one by one and found them to be in working order right? If not, do that now

Yeah, Looks like some bad RAM. Both sticks work, just not at the specs they are rated for. I thought Corsair was good quality RAM? Maybe I just got some bad sticks. profJim's been VERY helpful and you can see from the thread that we've run quite a few tests.

We omitted 1 very important test.

In reviewing the thread, post #16 shows that you tested each module individually, but only at DDR2-800, not at the rated 1066 speed.

Ideally each module would be tested in each slot with stock cpu & memory settings. UGGH, eight more tests. This can help confirm if there is a problem with 1 or more slots and/or memory modules, depending on which modules fail in which slots.

At this point, when running memtest86+ run each test until errors first appear. Make a note of which test # failed. A bit of good news, each test loop will only take half as long to run compared to the tests with both modules installed.

This seems like a lot of extra work, but it should prove beyond any doubt that the memory is defective. My best guess at this point, each of the tests will probably fail fairly quickly at full rated speed.

Even if only one memory module is defective, RMA the pair.

I'd like to see LSDme's suggestions. Think of his suggestions as much more than just extra curricular learning. It's always best to learn from the master.

I ran the 8 additional brief tests on the individual sticks (didn't run full Memtest runs in the interest of time).

    Alpha Stick:
    Channel 1....OK
    Channel 2....OK
Channel 3....Reboot loops with multiple short beeps, specs still at stock in Memtest, Red overclocking warning box in BIOS, and a LOT of errors!
Channel 4....Reboot loops, multiple short beeps, specs still at stock in Memtest, NO errors through half a pass

    Beta Stick:
    Channel 1....OK
    Channel 2....OK
Channel 3....Reboot loops with multiple short beeps, specs still at stock in Memtest, Red overclocking warning box in BIOS, and a some of errors, and counting almost half-way through first pass!
Channel 4....Reboot loops with multiple short beeps, Still 1066 - CAS timings defaulted to 5-7-7-24 in Memtest, Red overclocking warning box in BIOS, no errors through over 2 passes. I'm thinking that's because it went to defaults?

I'm not excited about what (I think) this means. Seems like the RAM is not a fan of channels 3 & 4...especially 3. FWIW, I was using channels 2 & 4 during most tests...except when I swapped to check the other channels.

Again, if this is what I think this is, the MB has bad channels for 3 & 4. I guess the good news is that I got the board at a local store and can easilyt swap it

Well sometimes channels 3-4 need other settings or ram in at least 1 to run. So you may need to test them using a funky method. Ram in slots 1+2, then test 3, and then 4. Or ram in slot 2, then test 3 and 4

What was the EXACT Settings used during these tests, please post them in full. Thanks

Here would be my suggestions for stock Q9550 and 4GB 1066 ram >>>

Below are the settings I used when I checked each stick in single channel.
I don't have extra RAM, so I can't check with 3 channels filled. I have tried stock settings as listed below in channels 1&3 as well as 2&4.

So from what you guys can gather, does this issue sound like RAM or MB?
