But it looks as if your slot 3 is for sure bad to me. Or it could be the ram still, so not sure 100% either way without my own tests done in person.

Do you have the cash to pickup another set of ram or borrow some to see if it is a bad slot or not? If so grab a set of 2x1 they are pretty cheap. I would advise you to pickup a different brand just to be sure as well

If you do not have the spare cash to pickup some ram or cannot borrow some, let me know if you need the RMA info for Gigabyte and I can get that for you
I got the MB at Fry's, so of all the parts it's the easiest to exchange (just the hardest to get out).

If I was to buy new RAM, I'm assuming I don't need 1066 since it's just for the purpose of testing the slots, right? I've seen name brands 800 MHz really cheap. The 800 I may actually be able to borrow...but not the 1066

Right now 2x2GB 800 vs 1066 memory kits are within $3 - $5 of each other (from the same manufacturer). 1066 memory when underclocked can run with the same tighter memory timings (4-4-4-12) as it's little brother. Given how inexpensive DDR2 memory is right now (especially with rebates), I'd by good quality performance memory. It will be a good set of backup memory for as long as you have a DDR2 system. Value ram probably isn't that much less expensive than the good stuff.

Think of this new memory as an investment. As DDR3 becomes the mainstream standard, DDR2 memory will be phased out and DDR2 prices will soar.

I"m ging to pick up some RAM tonite. FRY's has 2x2GB of DDR2 1066MHz Crucial RAM for about $27 after rebate. Can't get much better than that!

It's best if it's the newer 2.0V memory, not the older 2.2V ones.

Without heat spreaders, I'm guessing that it's their value ram, which will be fine for testing but won't o/c as well as comparable Crucial Ballistix memory.

Look around while you're at Fry's, there are probably even more low cost memory kits available with rebates.

It seems all the Ballistix they are are PC6400. Like this one...

Nothing else really much cheaper...especially in PC 8500. There's some other Corsair memeory, but I'm want to try something else for the sake of testing.

LSDme's Crucial review (link in his signature) was with the newer 2.0 volt versions that replaced the older 1.8 volt modules. The older Ballistix modules were rated at 2.2 volts maximum, but apparently are prone to failure over time. I've been running the Ballistix (2x1GB) in both computers for nearly two years. Shortly after my Mushkin memory arrived, one Ballistix stick died. This was a week before my UD3P mobo would arrive. I installed the Mushkins in my N650SLI-DS4 and they worked perfectly.

My N650 is now a backup mobo because my P35-DS3L easily runs my E2140 with a 75% o/c (2.800 GHz), with tRD = 5. I was able to run it with 100% o/c (fully stable) but reasoned that crippleing it to only 75% was prudent for a backup system.

If I were in your shoes, I'd rather test with 1066 memory, but I don't see this as a big deal because good DDR2-800 can usually overclock to DDR2-1000 or higher.

OK, so I bought some cheap crucial memory and set it up. I changed the DRAM voltage to 1.8V and set the driving strength back up to 1066. It wouldn't boot with the timings of 5-5-5-15, so I set it to auto (couldn't find timings online)...

    CT2KIT25664AA1067 - 4GB kit (2GBx2), 240-pin DIMM , DDR2 PC2-8500 from Crucial.com

Ran Memtest86 in slots 2 and 4 (the one's that worked best with the Corsair memeory). Memtest86 shows the timings are 7-7-7-24 and 4198 MB/s with the following settings (memset4.0 below also):

    RESULTS =
Memtest86 = OK through test 6 of second pass
