Thread: GA31M-ES2L<-- Is this OC able?

Well here's about where I top out for now...Hit 3.42ghz at 1.34v BIOS, 1.31/1.29v idle/load in CPUZ, stable in IBT at 359FSB and PCI of 106:

And for kicks, here's 3.50ghz at 1.38v BIOS, 1.36v/1.344 idle/load in CPUZ at 369FSB and PCI of 108, did not pass IBT after 2 runs:

Guess I'll back it down to PCI=106 and 3.42ghz and 1.31v for now. Any other ideas without resorting to torture? (Chike would not appreciate that haha)

3.4 should be fine to use while you wait, not much difference between 3.4 and 3.6 anyway really.

Yeah, it's just a numbers game but I see how it can get addictive trying to eek out an extra 100mhz here and there...and to think my 2nd computer was only rated at 100mhz complete with turbo button lol!

If the e7500 is similar in voltage, perhaps I could get a little better than 3.6ghz/333fsb and hit close to 3.8 or so? Hope so anyway....

Hey guys, just wanted to update that I just received Chike's CPU woohoo but am working out of town this weekend so I hope to try it out Sunday evening or early next week!

Are there any specific benchmarking programs you guys want me to run with my e7200 at stock 2.53ghz settings or current safe max settings of 3.41ghz?

I'll have internet access while away so feel free to respond, can't wait to get back!

You'll have to toss out your old CPU settings, I mean not use them or think about them with the new CPU, as the new CPU will be different so you'll need to start over tweaking again.

Not many settings for this board I believe he can keep all of them but vcore that will need to be higher

Well I was planning on starting from scratch to play it safe so no biggie.....It'll be fun trying to push it but I'll still take an easy 3.6ghz over a strained 3.4 I guess...

Ya, I guess Vcore would be about the main one you'd need to start over with!

And I'm sure Chike probably already told you a good starting point for xx Ghz with xx voltage anyway, so you should be all set once you get started!

IIRC, he mentioned that the 7500 can hit 3.6 with a 333fsb which isn't bad. Just depending on the chip and variables, if I push the fsb higher like I have with the 7200, I might have a shot at doing a little better than 3.6, who knows....

And whatever voltage he used, you can probably use close to that same amount to get started tweaking from.
