Thread: GA31M-ES2L<-- Is this OC able?

Here's the results from SPD. I'm not fully clear on what the different JEDEC values mean but the last EPP #1 column represents the max settings for my particular (OCZ DDR2 800) RAM?

Anyway, off to learn a little....

    Thanks everyone for the patience!

EDIT: Not sure if I've been up too late or what but I cannot get the image to show any larger than how it looks here. It's huge in Paint....

That images is too small to help us!

Save as a PNG or Jpeg and see if it looks the same then, also try uploading to tinypic.com and grab the bottom most link once the upload is done (in case you are getting the wrong one at Photobucket)

JEDEC is standards memory must have, EPP is what you want to know about. Just FYI

As said a few posts back, you may need to raise your PCIE to 101-105 or so to overclock this board very far but in general no the G31 is not a overclocking board

Well, 3.0ghz would be about as far as I'd like to take it if possible on this board. I'm fed up w/Photobucket. I've saved the image in gif and jpeg formats and after capturing the image, I blew it up about 300% which should've been plenty large (it's about 400k), but Photobucket is shrinking it down terribly.

    We'll see....

Alt+PrintScreen will capture the front active window only.
Windows Paint will do just fine, open it, under "Image" menu select attributes, set width & height to 64, ok, then paste and save as PNG format.
I use TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting, no shrinking, no popups, and provided forum links.

Hey guys, finally got it and edited the post above w/the pic. I didn't know P'bucket had preset the sizing so I just had to go in and change it to save images in a larger file size when uploading...

Obviously I have a ways to go with O'Clocking if I'm just learning how to screen capture! This is the first PC I have built since I was a kid when I built a little 386SX...amazing how many little things you can forget!!

You can upload one image file per post from the Reply To Thread screen.
Type any text, then click the "paper clip" icon in the top icon row, to the right of the smiley icon. In the Manage Attachments pop-up window, click the Browse button in the Upload File From Your Computer section and find the image file you want to include in your post. After you've selected the file, click the Upload button. Before you submit your post, press the Preview Post button to verify that the image is readable. It's best for your image file to use the JPG or PNG image file format.

The file you include in your post should not need to be resized in any way from the default size of your captured screen-shot.

Does the memory tab show timings like the EPP#1 or JEDEC#3 profile?
Please fill your forum signature with your system specs,It's imposibble to look for your original thread each time.
Do you have the stock or an aftermarket CPU cooler?

    Ok here's the memory tab:

Yeah this is via Photobucket above, which is cropped in P'bucket but isn't here for some reason....when I tried to upload the captured window using the attachment option on this forum, after a LONG time, it timed out and a message appeared saying a 'security token is missing'...?

    Anyway....

I was hust wondering, so it is set to the staandard JEDEC#3 with looser timing, I'd leave that for last if you want to OC the CPU, or if you want a stock profile with the tighter timings set them manually according to EPP, DDR2 OverVoltage +0.2(check pc heatlthe for the applied voltage) and try to set lowest tRD(Static tRead Value) value possible.
Check MemSet main window Performance Level for current tRD.
Run a memory benchmark(MaxxMEM/Everest Memory and Cache bemchmark) before and after the changes to see if there's improvement.

Memory performance won't increase dramatically, nor they make much overall chamge so it's up to you what to do first.

That's what I wanted to clarify....I didn't think it would make much difference on its own. I'm going to try to do more research and reading over the weekend to get a better grasp/foundation so that I don't have to be spoon fed everything.

    Thanks guys
