    Default Ga-ep45t-ud3r

Having a few issue with my GA-EP45T-UD3R board with BIOS ver. F5 when it comes to memory.

    I am using Corsiar 2 x 2GB TW3X4G4096-1800C8DF Dominator RAM

I have the options for Extreme/Turbo/Standard. I undertsnad that to use your manual settings you should use standard if you plan to OC.

    Couple of things:
If I try to set the Command rate to 1T it always reverts back to 2T in CPUZ/Everest when in windows. When I check the BIOS i have changed it to 1T but it just keeps reverting back to 2T.

Also If i try the XMP profile of my RAM it get volted at 2.2v rather than the suggested 1.8v, so i dont use it as at those volts Im in trouble. (Is this a RAm issue or a board isssue?)

    Thanks for ther help.

I haven't worked with DDR3 memory. With DDR2 memory, the 1T Command Rate works at lower memory speeds only. With DDR2-800 memory, the highest memory speed that I could use with 1T was 720 - 750 MHz memory speed. I'll bet that DDR3 memory has similar limits.

Post a screen shot of your memory's SPD settings using cpu-z or Memset.

At this time, I'd disable XMP and manually set your memory timings and voltages. Then I'd follow the advice of DDR3 memory users.

    Hi,
Do you have double boot every time you start your pc. In this case your board is not accepting 1T with your settings so it changes back to 2T as before.
If your ddr3 specs give 1.8V you should never let it work at 2.2V.
I've had same issue with my ga-ep45t-ud3p with BIOSes up to and including ver.F5.
Please upgrade your BIOS to the latest vF6 (read the sticky for qflash), then manually set DDR voltage to 1.8V in the BIOS. Otherwise you risk to have pair of damaged ddr3 sticks like me :( I mean they still work but now and then I've got freezes and reboots.

If you look you will see that the XMP profile volts @ 2.2v where as the SPD says 1.8v.

If I use the XMP profile can I manually down the volts to the specified 1.8v?
ie use the XMP profile but overide the 2.2v? (although i not going to use the XMP as I will set up manually but would like to know never the less)

Also i cant find a F6 verison BIOS for this mobo on the Gigabyte site, only up to F5??

If the XMP profile specifies 2.2v, you can't modify it. But chances are Everest might be reading it wrong.

Regardless, switch to manual settings and you'll never have to worry about those things.

    Ok Thanks

What about the Standard/Turbo/Extreme setting for the RAM.

When overclocking should I have standard or use one of the other if I can get away with it??

Leave it on Standard, it's the safest way. Auto overclocking can cause a lot of trouble when you're testing manual settings, if you forget you set it it can cause instability that's difficult to track down.

What does EasyTune report for you memory volts?
What does PC HEALTH in the bios report for memory volts?

I don't use EasyTune. My BIOS reports 2.176v for +0.4v set.

I dint use Easy Tune either but for the record both that and the BIOS readings are 2.2v so I think I am safe to think thats the actual volts(which is scary as hell as these are only rated at 1.8v)
