    Default Cold Boot Problem

I built my first computer last month and and I'm a first time overclocker. I have read many of the posts here but none of them seem to match my specific problem. I have also tried many different settings from what I read and my system seems stable right now. So far I ran OCCT twice for one hour and Intel Burn Test 6 times with no errors at these settings. My problem is that sometimes when I start my computer it gets to the Vista start-up screen for a few seconds, and then reboots to the Windows Error Recovery screen where I can choose to start Windows normally and everything is fine. Sometimes it gets to the Vista start-up screen and a blue screen comes up for a second that says something about a Physical Memory Dump and then it reboots to the Windows Error Recovery screen. I can reboot after I get into Windows and have no problems. It only seems to happen when it's cold, and it doesn't happen all the time. Here are my current settings. Please have a look and tell me if you see anything obvious that could be causing this. Thank you in advance. I appreciate any help.

I would make these changes and see if things get better >>>

    CPU Clock Skew (ps)....................: <<< 50 <<< 0
    MCH Clock Skew (ps)...................: <<< 150 <<< 0

    Driving Strength Profiles A + B

    Static tRead Value.........................: 8-10

    MCH Core…………….....1.100V...........: << 1.05 << Try 1.2-1.3 (or have you already?)

And some more vcore for a while would not hurt either, just to be sure this is not a issue

I see very loose ram timings, is there a reason for this? I just ask incase you were not aware of how bad for performance this is

Thanks, I'll try those settings and let you know. I'll have to let it sit for awhile so I may not reply back right away. I have tried a few different MCH Core settings that didn't work but I'll have to get back in there and try again since I have changed some things since then. I did go from 1.05 to 1.2 MCH Core for now and I raised Vcore to 1.381. I left the RAM timings loose for now until I get this problem fixed. I'll get into that later after I do some more reading because I'm still not 100% sure of what I need to do with them. I know you lower one at a time and then test. Is that all there is to it? Thanks.

I started the computer up tonight and had the same issue at start-up. This time it didn't even get to the Vista start-up screen before the blue screen flashed for a second and it booted back to the Windows Error Recovery screen, and worked fine from there. Any other suggestions on what I could try? I used all of your recommended settings. I did set Static tRead Value to 10, MCH Core to 1.2 and Vcore to 1.381. Would a lower Static tRead Value help? Thanks.

I've got Static tRead set to 8 now but still having the same original problem. Any other ideas? Do you know what was fixed/changed with the F9b bios? I was thinking about flashing to that one but don't want to mess anything up. I wish I knew more about this stuff, but I am learning!

I'm still trying to figure this problem out if Lsdmeasap or anyone else has any advise for me. Thanks again.

Did you try 1.24 or so MCH Voltage? If so, or not please give me your full settings you are now using and I will advise again

You may need more Vcore then you are using as well, keep in mind actual applied is less than what you set

It seems to be working now and my original post is edited to reflect my current settings. I haven't gotten a reboot in about a week now. Dropping the MCH Core back to 1.05 seems to have done the trick since none of the other settings i tried worked. Maybe it was a combination of things I changed, but I really only changed what you suggested and dropped the FSB to 444 from 448. Do you think I can get away with dropping my Static tRead down to 7 with my memory? Only one way to find out I guess! Do you have any suggested RAM timings for my Corsair Dominator? Thanks for all your help.
