Default EP45-DS3R 8 gigs settings, help.

I have an EP45-DS3R mobo with a Q6600 CPU. I just installed 4x2gig of RAM and would like to know what I need to do to the BIOS if anything to run this. I'm OC'ing the CPU to 3Ghz, but I don't plan to run the RAM OC'd (it's 800Mhz RAM).

    Thanks,

    Rob

Post your current bios settings using the generic bios template.
Include [AUTO] settings where appropriate, NOT the displayed values to the left of the AUTO setting.
List the major components in your system, preferably in your signature.
Include a link to your ram's specs.

    RAM is OCZ Platinum Edition 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Quad Kit Desktop Memory
Specs: Cas Latency: 5 Timing: 5-4-4-18 Voltage: 2.1V

Mobo is EP45-DS3R with Q6600 CPU. Please let me know if you need more info. The biggest issue is that Vsta 64 hangs every once in a while when loading. Plus the strange booting which seems to take a long time.

    Thanks

    Rob

Is your system fully stable with 2x2GB ram with your posted settings? It will be much easier if you first have a stable setting with 4GB of ram.

    For 8 GB of ram:
MCH core = 1.22 - 1.26 might be needed, start low in increase 1 step at a time.
Cpu Termination = 1.24 - 1.28 should help with system stability.
CPU PLL…………………....1.500V*.......: Auto <-- set this manually to 1.50, you might need 1.55 volts
ICH I/O……………….....1.500V............: Auto <-- set this manually to 1.50

Please include a link to your ram's specs, we need to be able to confirm the manufacturer's specs. FYI, some OCZ ram has an EVP rating 0.05 volts higher than the stock rating.

BTW, I tried the above settings you suggested (with 8 gigs) and Vista 64 hung during start up. this also happened before when I only had 2 gigs. As a note, I had been runnig XPPro for over a year with this setup (2 gigs) without a single hick up.

Did you try booting with 2x2GB?
Thanks to your included ram link, I could quickly verify the specs. They're rated for 2.2 volts (maximum), which might be required even for a 2x2GB setup. Normally DDR-800 memory doesn't require maximum voltage. With 8 gigs, I'd start at the highest supported voltage and incrementally lower it to the lowest stable setting.

I have not tried 2x2Gb. Mostly because I was having these exact issues when I was running 2x1Gb (last week before I swapped them for the 4x2Gb).

Are you booting with any USB storage media installed?
