I'm out of ideas, hopefully there's a magician on the list that has the answer. Are you listening LSDme?
    Well that makes me sadface.

I'm thinking of trying an ASUS board as it's all leading back to another broken motherboard. O well, such is life in a mass produced world!

    Thanks again for the suggestions.

In advance BIOS options, what do you have your PCI slot set to? If you just have the one video card it should be set to PEG. I had mine set to PEG2 and I was having some wierd video issues, no display on boot and I couldn't get into the bois. I had to reset the BIOS using a screw driver to short the jumper.

have tried PEG, PEG2, PCI all with the same result. PCI frequency set to 100, or auto, all the same.

Don't give up just yet, hopefully LSDme will respond. It's possible that a CRT monitor won't have this problem, but that still doesn't solve the problem.

Have you tried the forum SEARCH with:
    blank+screen
    no+video

Hang in there a bit longer & see if someone else might have the answer.

ps: could there be an incorrect video card software setting that might be causing this problem?

I'm not sure what video card setting it could be. I tried a different video card and it did the same thing, spins the fan very fast and wont initialize the display until reboot.

I'm also a bit confused by the error beep code. On a cold boot it gives the monitor or video problem beep sequence, but then loads windows?? Does that error indicate a non-fatal error?

On rare occasions during the initial boot, I've had an extra beep or two, but it always booted normally. I've never had blank screen problems. I've seen other threads with video issues, but their problems were due to video software configuration issues.

Here's a thought, check to see if there is a video driver INF file for your monitor. Some monitors (like mine) don't offer a video driver, but it still works. You could also check with the video card's tech support and/or forums & see if they can offer a solution.

It's possible that if you update your system with Intel's latest P45 INF drivers it might fix the problem.

    Hope this helps.

I'm currently bench testing this setup with no hard-drive. Can drivers affect the POST process without a HD? I was under the (erroneous perhaps??) assumption that with this basic setup the problem had to be either hardware or bios related.

Good point. Any drivers and INF files shouldn't affect video while you're posting. Still your test is valid.

I don't recall if you've already tried with the video card in the 2nd pci-e slot & set video to PEG2.

Have you tried testing with an older pci card with INIT DISPLAY FIRST set to PCI?

I have tried my vid card in both slots with both settings. I only tested the old card in 16x slot and tried PEG, PEG2, and PCI, same result. I will double check with the card in the 8x slot and set to PEG2 just in case!
