    Thanks ProfJim, you are super correct. MCH TO high can cause MANY issues, and I think for sure he is using WAY to much

    In general on the UD3you wont see quad cores with normal cooling being used 24/7 above 500-510 fsb.
    Ie i havent seen any people witha quad intel cpu and 1066 memory running the memory at rated speed on a (1:1)(fsbx2) ratio.
    Im sure there are exceptions around but 533 is a fairly high fsb.

    A year ago you would have had to look fairly hard to find any board able to run that.
    Dual core runners seem to be able to get higher fsb, 2 fewer cores for the mch and memory to interact with probably.

    A contact of mine on another site has a UD3 board+ the same cpu and memory as mine,but after some testing he is happy enough to run at 480 fsb with voltages in the 1.25-1.35 range.(mem only 2.02v)
    Even with the extra cpu cooling if you want the 4G stable it seems you have to push it a bit more.

    The figures I sent you are ok for me for testing .I think prime blend did 16hrs or so.It was long enough for me.
    I also dont get any failures to boot lock ups or the like when running games ,scanning or the usual.

    I was reluctant to run 500 fsb because i had no way of measuring the nb temp,now I at least have a method which shows the temp all the time.
    Keep an eye on your system temp,how hot does it get?

    What is that temperature on the top right of your screenshot,where is it measured from?

    Im interested in your 547mhz host frequency,what happened there.
    Was that the highest boot into windows you could get,did it stay happily at idle,lock up as soon as you tried testing? or?.

    Try entering the figures shown for your epp for 1066mem speed manually in the advanced timings those that match such as tRFC 68 anyway.
    I know the memory will be "underperforming" but I havent heard of any problems with memory being understressed.
    For what its worth :
    I was able to stay "stable" at 507 fsb(with tests),510 seemed to run ok but would give lockups about 10 min into testing programs.
    515 I could get running but I had to change tREF in memset to over 4000 and Ive no interest in having to reset it every boot,or "flashing" my memory.
    Max boot into windows was at 532 mhz screen locked up as soon as i tried to do anything.

    -so right now i just ran in-large prime 95 overnight and it ran fine for about 8 hrs at 490fsb.
    -i think its stable enough to tweak up from here.

    i just did a quick test at these suggested settings for vtt at 1.24 and i tried 1.26, mch core at 1.28 and the pll at 1.57 at 490fsb and my comp froze within 2 mins of prime 95.

    -for some reason, my board really needs a lot of nb voltage, do you guys thinks its a faulty board or a bad p45 chip?

    -i had my fsb to 460 before with a 5:6 ratio and the ram ran stable for 24 hrs prime, it was running at 552mhz at 16-6-6-5 with 2.16v.

    As I said earlier, too much MCH core voltage causes instability.
    MCH core at 1.40 is awfully high when running with 2x2GB 8500 memory. The "usual" settings is 1.24 - 1.28 volts and sometimes a bit more. I've only seen much higher settings when running 8GB memory or memory o/c approaching 1200 MHz.
    Try lowering CPU Termination 1 or 2 clicks. This should help you lower MCH core.
    Increase CPU PLL 1 click to 1.57 volts.
    Manually set ICH I/O and ICH Core to the values displayed in the bios.

    The blank Performance Level settings in Memset usually have a conservative value of 10 - 12 @ 500 MHz shown when Static tRead value is set on AUTO. Manually set 11 for each channel. If this isn't stable, increase it to 12 for each channel.

    Manually set tRFC = 56 for now. tRD and tRFC can be lowered and tested once your system is stable. Monitor your temps to verify that the "SYSTEM" temp is OK. Your fan is certainly helping your NB to keep cool.

    What issues are you having with your current settings? Reboot problems? Failed stability tests? BSODs?

    It will be easiest for us to make additional suggestions once you've reposted the complete MIT bios settings in your next post.

    Is your system stable when using OPTIMIZED (default) settings? You will need to:

    1) Load optimized defaults.
    2) Set dram voltage to 2.10 volts or the max rated voltage for your ram.
    3) Set Performance Enhance = STANDARD <-- Turbo is OK at default settings only. You can try using Turbo after your system is stable and you've reach your desired stable o/c
    4) Set Extreme Memory Profile (X.M.P.) to Disabled
    5) Set PCI Express Frequency (MHz) to 100
    6) Save settings and exit (F10).
    7) Run extended stress testing to insure stability.

    If your system can't pass this test, something is wrong.

    What's the highest stable o/c with "near normal" voltages that you've run? List the values of the voltages that you've manually changed.

    To avoid any ambiguities, use LSDME's template for all your posted settings. Make sure that you fill in AUTO wherever it's appropriate.
    note: This is one reason why we need all the settings filled in when you post your settings.

    We also need a link to your ram's specs.

    **edit** What bios version are you using?

    You'll make it much easier for us if you list your system components in your signature. See my signature as an example.

    my system runs fine at stock optimized default. i ran it at 450fbs close to stock voltages stable
    -i added my system specs in the signiture and i used lsdme's tempalte, i copied the template and filled everything out.

    -im using f9b

    look two posts up and youll see the template i posted has all of the values as they appear in my bios.
    with those settings, i am stable in prime 95

    Ok you mean the mem speed of 540x2 isnt based of the host frequency direct,its a multiplier.
    What is your system temp reading liln under test?
    At 490fsb Id be hoping you could get away with a lower mch than that.
    If you have the time/the inclination, clock the cpu down to x7 at 490fsb .
    Yes I know your cpu cooling is your best "weapon" but try and get it out of the equation.
    See what are the minimum voltages are you need for fsb,mch and ram at (1:1)stable.

    If you get 4G stable on the cpu,and I hope you do,you should get 505-510 mhz fsb stable and then back things off a bit.

    If I wasnt able to get my pc running reasonably stable at a speed higher than what im using for 24/7,I just wouldnt run it that high,speed limited memory or not.
    The fan you have cooling the mch/nb is it attached directly to the northbridge hs or is it angled to blow on the memory too?
    Im using vista 64 sp 1 and I cant boot without memory execute protect enabled(on my settings)
    Also most people run with tm2 enabled when overclocking(for you you probably wont get near the limit anyway) but i dont think it boosts overclock potential

    490 fsb gives me abtou 55c on prime 95 large
    -ive tried 490 and 500mhz at 7x multi, but the system still freezes with lower mch core volts

    -the fan is blowing angled at the northbridge and the ram, but after touching both, the ram is more hot than the northbridge.
    -ram is rated to run at 533 at 15-5-5-5 at 2.1v, so im not worried about the ram

    -ive tried mch core at 1.4v and ive tried uping mch references as well, but it seems giving more mch core voltage is the only way its been stable at 490mhz.

    ok well my room temp doesnt go above 25C.
    I was happy enough at 1.40 mch for awhile,becase it was good on prime 95on 10hrs+,but with OCCT on a 1 hr test it wasnt.
    OCCT seems to work the componenents harder in a shorter timeframe (Ive found)
    1.42v mch doesnt worry me or I wouldnt use it.Anything up to 1.45 or so wouldnt either,especially since i can now measure the temperature directly.
    Im not recommending /advising anyone to use mch that high tho .As allways the lowest volts you can get away with the better,but no I wouldnt worry about it it.
    There are various "Do not exceed voltages".

    The memory I have now ..1 year ago people were running it on 2.4-2,5 v,it seems there were semi legendary D9 memory chips around that could take that voltage (sigh).then again 4G ddr2 mem cost was 3 times what it is now.

    Check out xtreme systems forums about this board,there are 2.5k posts ,tho most of them are dual core orientated.
