    Default EX58-UD3R help...

    I just built an i7 system with a EX58-UD3R motherboard (BIOS version f2).
    RAM is 3x2gig Corsair XMS3 TR3X6G1333C9 DDR3.

    A few days ago I tried changing my memory multiplier and timings to match the specs of the RAM (1333 @ 9-9-9-24).

    It worked fine... ran memtest86+ and had no errors.
    Temperature was a degree or so hotter, but that's about it.

    Last night I switched one of my fans from sys_fan2 to sys_fan1 after realising that sys_fan2 is 5v, and when I tried to boot up I got stuck at the Vista (64bit) loading screen. I restarted via front reset button and the BIOS reset itself and computer rebooted. I rebooted again and went into BIOS and got a message saying something about an error occuring due to overclocking or over voltage... I haven't done anything except change memory multiplier and timings.

    Can someone help me?

    You need to change Several things when you change your memory timings. Please give me your full settings and I can advise back >>>

    This is Just a template I use to ask people their settings, pay no attention to the numbers in it, replace with yours

    CPU = Model #

    Thanks for the reply.
    I'm just learning how to overclock and have not changed anything but the RAM multiplier and timings (they're back at default now)... the system ran stable for a few days until I switched a fan from sysfan2 to sysfan1... I don't know why that caused a problem (maybe it didn't cause it...?)

    ...some of these settings don't mean a whole lot to me yet. I'm still learning exacly what they all do.

    Can you help me get my RAM running at 1333 @ 9-9-9-24 (how much of a difference would there be over the default 1066 @ 8-8-8-20?)

    I do recommend you update your BIOS, many things have been corrected and added since F2

    Do not use @BIOS, use Qflash. Here is a Guide, and be sure to read it especially if you are using RAID >>>

    It would be much better to run your ram at 1333 over 1066. Why did you not fill out the whole template I posted for you? I needed to see it all really...

    I'm a little hesitant to try updating the BIOS as I've heard it can be really bad if not done properly.

    I'm looking over the settings you suggest, and I'm going to have to do some reading and learning before I try changing all that.

    Flashing your BIOS will be fine, it is if you use @BIOS to flash from Windows things go wrong normally. Just do not do it in a storm, or do not shut off your PC During the flash and you will be fine

    That's why I wrote the guide linked above, so people would be less afraid as it is very simple.

    BIOS update with Q-flash was successful.
    Followed the tutorial... quick and easy...

    Now I'll be playing around with the settings you recommended.
    If I mess up, or want to revert back do I just load optimized defaults?
    Or is there something else I'll have to do?

    Also, I've been wondering about EasyTune6...
    Would you recommend it for overclocking?
    I'd like to see how my system performs at higher settings... I'm in the process of learning how to do it all manually, but it's taking some time and I'm not comfortable quite yet.

    Is it really necessary to disable C1E and EIST?
    I've been reading differing opinions about that.
