The Intel will do 4Ghz without breaking a sweat, provided you do not use the stock cooler.

I cannot offer AMD Advice, so +1 for the Intel setup from me.

Are you looking for a different memory suggestion for the Intel setup? If so, please let me know what amount of $$ you have allotted for your memory and I will offer some things I would choose if it were me

I think OC'ing the AMD Chip will be easier as I believe the Memory isnt linked to the CPU At all. On the other hand, there is less literture and help occing it as Intel I7 is more popular.

Apart from this Intel offers much better performance.

I am luck to have a MicroCenter 20 mins from where i live I have paid a little more and have been some what limited to what they have over the years but the ability to return or exchange is there is a problem is a Plus and has saved me some real time.

    Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz $229.99

Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R $204.99 after rebate 184.999(Only Gigabyte board that MC has in store)

This is what MicroCenter has in store
is this OK? If the board would rather have a Different/better Ram i can order that but i think 3x2 gig is what this system calls for
    Vista Premium 64

    XMS3 6GB DDR3-1600 (PC-12800) CL9 DIMM Memory Kit (Three 2GB Memory Modules)TR3X6G1600C9 $98.00

    This is $532.98
I have just sold my current Motherboard, CPU and RAM for about what this is going to cost.So to me the swap out of parts is a Plus and worth the 1-2 hours this will take to setup.Looking forward to setting up and using another Gigabyte board. The X48-DS4 has changed me from ASUS for ever i hope.

Ram these days hardly makes any difference, you will see literally no difference between faster and slower ram. The ram you have chosen is fine.
