Default serious audio trouble with EP45C-DS3R

    Hello,

    I am running a Q6600 CPU on a EP45C-DS3R (F5 BIOS) with 2gb of DDR3.
I just can't get audio to work properly.
Whenever sound is playing, it"skips", "crackles", "stutters". Even playing a MP3 in winamp or itunes causes problems. I use my computer to produce music and use an external Yamaha FW mixing desk connected to it, but the audio issues make the computer and the FW mixer absolutely unfit for music making, or even music listening...

So I ran DPC latency checker and noticed that I have peaks at 2000-8000 mu s every time I "do" something on the computer (open explorer, open firefox, load a file...), which cause the audio crackles. How can I get rid of those?

I tried disabling DES as is advised on this board, and music can now be played if I don't touch the computer (with DES on it was worse), but as soon as I "use" the computer, peaks do reappear, alogn with audio crackles. I really don't know what to do / try to fix this now.

I'd be very grateful if anyone had any idea how to fix that...
    Thanks!!!

Please Uninstall DES, that may fix it completely. If not, be sure you are using the latest Sound drivers and Intel Chipset drivers, and please flash to the latest BIOS if you have not already. Please read this if you are unsure how to flash, do not use @BIOS >>

I made a post here about the possible causes and how to check to find what the source of the issue is as it may be anything from Hardware to Drivers to programs, ect. DPC Latency IS Fixed in P45 BIOS's as it was a NON issue but be sure you are using the latest BIOS >>>

    Hi,

Thank you for your answer, but no luck yet.
DES is uninstalled and peaks are still here.
Latest sound drivers and Intel INF files are installed.
I also installed the latest Catalyst drivers.
BIOS is flashed to F5 (using @BIOS though, should I reflash it?).
Most apps have been uninstalled (I plan to format the HD and reinstall windows to, maybe, help solve this problem).
I tried to disable network controller / USB controllers one at a time, nothing.

I'm starting to think this won't be solved until a new BIOS fixing DPC is out...
    What can I try now?

EDIT: I dropped the external firewire console and tried to play music thru the realtek chip - DPC peaks are still here, but audio plays just fine. So what's wrong with audio being played thru the Yamaha Firewire mixer? The FW chipset is supported, so what's wrong?
And how do I get rid of those DPC spikes?

After formatting the HD and reinstalling XP, everything is working perfectly !

Drivers and apps are the same as before, not sure what went wrong...
Maybe I just had to make a clean install after I upgraded the computer.
Issue solved. Thank you Lsdmeasap for your help.

Nice to see you got it!! Sorry for not replying sooner.

Na, no need to reflash to the same BIOS, but I do suggest next time you flash to be on the safe side use Qflash.

All the same programs and drivers eh? Well maybe one is newer now and the old one was the issue? Or maybe you have just not installed the problematic program yet, just create a restore point before you install every two or three apps. Then if you see it come back again you can just roll back until you do not see it and you will eventually find the program causing you issues.

Great to hear things are working smoothly for you now, post back anytime if you have anymore questions or issues and we will try to help

    Damnit! Here we go again!
I have installed Windows7 on my computer (same computer, now equipped with an Intel SSD), and DPC latency is out of control!!!
Audio is chirping as hell obviously... :-(
Is there a way to easily fix it by now? :-(

I don't have any such thing.
I've been trying to disable/enable vrious components in the device manager, no luck yet.
Obviously I won't buy any other Gigabyte motherboard ever, but for now I'm stuck with it and desperately need a fix to that issue...

Which Version of Windows 7? For x64 see that HPET is set correctly.
See page 3 in the DPC Latency Checker Product Sheet.
The C1E is in Advanced CMOS Settings in BIOS.
