    Default GA-EP45-DQ6 S3 Sleep problem when OCed

    Hi. I can't s3 sleep my GA-EP45-DQ6 board when its oced. I'm running an e8400 and 8gb of mushkin 1000mhz ram. BTW, I previously had a Ga-Ep45-DS3R board which also could never sleep.

    Right now i have it clocked at 3.914 (9 x 435) and its 12 prime blend stable. In fact, i can actually play command and conquer 3 whilst prime blending for hours without a problem. I don't think there are any stability issues.

    Now you should know that when I first flashed to f12 i still couldn't s3 sleep if I increased the fsb by even 1 mhz. Then i talked with vista tech who gave me some vista tweaks to put into play. Those tweaks were what allowed me to suddenly be able oc up to 411 fsb at a 9x multiplier. (Thus why I strongly believe a lot of the issue is OS based and I'd love to see what would happen if I was running say linux or something)

    When i did my testing i found that i could freely change the memory settings without affecting s3 sleep. Memory did not seem to be a factor. i also found that if i dropped the multipler down to 6x, i could go up to 443 and still s3 sleep without an issue. however anything above 443 wouldn't work.

    I then found that I could increase the multiplier up to 8 x 443 and it'd still work, but 8.5 and 9 wouldn't work. Increases in voltage or voltage termination didn't help either, nor did manipulating board settings (ram timings, mch voltage, mch ref, etc). I really was pretty extensive in the gathering the parameters of what works and what doesn't.

    With the 9x multiplier, 410 was the max it would be able to consistently s3 sleep. I didn't test 8.5. At 8x 443 was the max it would be able to consistently s3 sleep.

    Also my tests seem to strongly imply that the ethernet ports/or windows recognition of them seem to have a lot to do with the failure as it appeared that when they were deactivated sleep seemed to happen with greater consistency than when they were active. But I couldn't postively conclude it as it was an observation towards the end of the testing.

    In short, if you can S3 sleep and have an oced ga-ep45 board, please post your thoughts because I honestly can't seem to get that function properly working.

    Please post for me what you have stable at 9x410, and then what you try to use that fails at 9x410+ and let me know how exactly it fails (And if you stability test it, and how that passes or fails, ect) >>>

    Hmm... I'll have to get back to you on that one. I don't remember the settings. I do know i basically tested if it could sleep immediately after booting into windows and 5 minutes after booting windows (ie if a windows service was the problem, you'd get booting with the former and not the latter). Whats really odd is a lot of the time, at 9x443 the pc could sleep if I did it right as windows loaded, but if i slept it after say 2 mins into windows loading, it suddenly couldn't do it anymore and would go into those reboot loops.

    I wasn't really concerned about stability but simply trying to figure out what factors promote sleep and what didn't. The only stability test I did was a brief prime blend test where I ran prime blend for about 20-30 secs and then had it sleep in the middle of prime blend and resume into prime blend. That said, with a 9x multiplier 410 fsb was the highest it could go. The board settings where very similar to what I am currently using, so I'll fill in what I can.

    Well stability is a MUST or you will not be able to resume at all, so your setups that did resume must have been at least partially stable. I would image the 410+ setups were not, especially since you did not test, and it looks like you are using way to many Auto values

    If you would like some advice on 410+ get one going and then give me your FULL Settings used (Manual or Auto, I need to see what you set/left Auto in the BIOS) and a screenshot of Memset

    Sounds to me like that is simply all you have issues with, after you get stable at 410+ you likely will be able to resume like -410
