    Default M57SLI-S4 Bios updating question

    Hi,

My board is M57SLI-S4 Rev 2.0, due to having a few instability issues of late I'm thinking of flashing the BIOS.

I've read Lsdmeasap's excellent sticky on Flashing using QFlash which is the way I want to do it, so I've downloaded the correct utility from Gigabyte.

Having unpacked the download into a separate folder I've now got 3 files in there,

    autoexec
    FLASHSPI
    m57sls42

I'm assuming that I need to put m57sls42, which is 512kbs and is an FHE file onto a floppy to install with QFlash, or am I wrong?.

Any advice will be very much appreciated.
    Regards
    Dave

I think you just need that file, but just put them all on the floppy incase.

Then you just boot in to Bios > Qflash or Press F8 to go direct to Qflash when you restart the pc.

After this, go in to your bios and load optimised defaults, reboot and then set all your settings as before.

Yes, if you are using Qflash you ONLY need the m57sls42.FHE file, that is the actual BIOS file.

Those other two files are only needed if you want to flash from Pure DOS using a floppy or other methods
