Actually couple of weeks ago ran into this, had to relaod Vista
    Well it was quicker anyway.
Couldn't install ANY update lan driver on a machine, even thru device manager or its own installer.
but we did find the properties tab of tcpip 4 and 6 all greyed out. which was odd.
Reloaded the os and all was well.

I really want to avoid having to reinstall windows as it will take me about a month to get it back to something like it used to with preferences /programs etc.
It did run fine for a few months before this happened so i dont think its my windows cd.

I have used winsockfix to repair tcp.sys

Its happened without me using a web browser.
I have used Firefox 2 and opera anyhow theres no real pattern to this apart from annoying me.

    thanks

I am trying to remember, there used to be a fix rebuild for that.

    No malware on board either?

    Does the error give code?
I have KIS 2009 which hasnt picked anything up.
I also have run Mbam and superantispyware in windows 2000 on the xp pro partition to mkae sure nothing is being hidden from KIS2009

    Still nothing.

    Yes kapersky

Internet works it just BSODs after a random period of time
with tcpip.sys as the error on the blue screen.

I have done the Microsoft reseting tcpip and registry stuff with their
    extended help tool.

Internet is working at moment after MS tool posted ran just will have to wait to see if BSOD is fixed. Anything from a few minutes to a few days until i see the next BSOD.
