    Default OC i7 920 with most efficient and cold voltages.

    Hello Forum Moderators.

    Currently I'm runnning with these hardware components:
    i7 920 @ 3,2 ghz
    Gigabyte UD5 X58
    NesteQ Silentfreezer 1200
    ATCS 840 Coolermaster

    Im running my overclock at 3,2 with these setting; QPI link speed (auto), BLCK (155) + turbo mode, CPU Vcore (1,25) and RAM voltage (1,64)

    When I use Prime95 (4core & 8 threads) and Realtemp v3.00; I get 43 degrees iddle and (78) degrees load. (The temperature just seems to rise and rise... 1 degree every 3 minute higher until i close down Prime)

    When I try this on standard setting I get like 74+ degrees load, and a little colder iddle ..

    Can someone advise me too make a cooler overclock, where I use less high voltages ?? and more efficient methods. I have tried to replace the cooler, but it dosent help.

    Please help, and share you tips to me; How to make the coolest OC.

    In addition i got a dude on MSG who claims that his i7 @ 3,4 runs at 50 degrees at Prime95. He got the newest Thermalright. Does my cooler suck, or is it my OC skills?


    Other questions; What is this???
    HPET mode: 64 bit-mode or 32-bit mode? Running Vista 64-bit

    Are you using to much paste on your CPU?

    Load and Idle temps seem high so maybe that cooler is not good, or is not properly installed, or you are using to much voltages.

    I see a review here on that cooler, but not sure what language it is (maybe German, didn't try to translate as images told enough)>>

    It does not look to be such a great cooler, I see 72/76C at 3.6Ghz with only 1.248V. So yes, a ThermalRight would be better then that for sure.

    I cannot offer air temps, but I can tell you my water setup runs my i7 at 4Ghz at 34C idle and only 64 or so full load. And I have seen some Thermalrights beat a setup like I have so I do believe what he is saying, maybe not the exact temp of 50C at Full 8 (HT ON) core 100% load though, unless his house is very cold. But then again I could be wrong as I have not seen many reports of temps at 3.4-3.6, only stock and 4Ghz +

    HPET you should set to the type of OS you have, 32bit set 32bit, x64bit set x64. It is High Precision Even Timer >>>

    Motherboard = Model, Revision # Gigabyte UD5 X58 bought in January
    BIOS Version = F6c (this seems to be the only one which cures doubble boot)
    Ram = Brand, Model#, Part#, And or Link OCZ Platinum 1866 9-9-9-28

    All I have touched is Vcore to 1,25, RAM volt to 1,64 and HPET mode.
    My BLCK is 150 + Turbo mode = 3150 mhz each core.
    Everything else I have left at auto settings.
