Default Please help me overclock my i7 920 w/ EX58-UD4P!!

Hi, I've been using my UD4P with the core i7 920 for about a month now and it's stable at stock running on air (Xigmatek S1283). After a bunch of stress tests, I've found my stock temps to be 26 celcius idle and low 50's on 100% load (although in real world processes it has never gone over 30 degrees). I was wondering if anyone was able to help me find some settings that would be usable with this mobo and processor since I'm quite new to OC'ing and this is my first PC since my P4 2.4ghz. I'm trying to get to around 3.6-3.8ghz which should be pretty easily attainable by most accounts. Can someone offer me some starting points or tips to start my O/C? I've read a few articles but for the most part they've really gone over my head and it's very difficult to understand. My setup with the relevant parts: Gigabyte EX58-UD4P (F8a) Intel Core i7 920 (C0/C1 stepping) OCZ Platinum DDR3 (OCZ3P1600LV6GK) Xigmatek HDT-S1283 Thank you to anyone who is willing to help a newbie out.

Any luck with the above settings? If you need more help with those or further speeds let me know and post your settings and I can try to help

I have the same board, so if you are using the same BIOS as me I can also give you BIOS profiles to use. I would need to know how much ram you have, and of course you would need to adjust your own QPI/Vtt and Vcore settings as our CPU's likely differ a bit

This is great i have a similar system and i have put these vaues in and Crysis is running heaps better!
But one question about the timings you say set to 9 then if 9 works ok set to 8 ??? etc etc
default was 8 so i set to 9 ...it works good so should i know go back into bios and change them back to 8 and 21 ?

Also my ram is DDR3 1333 MHZ .....im not going to blow it up using these settings am i ?

Also ! heh sorry im a newb if you cant tell already.....when i study my cores as im playing only one core out of teh 8 is really working like 50% the others are hovering around 3 % and one other at 14%
is ther a way of evening out this ?so i can spread the load over the cores ? it seems silly to have 8 and only 1 or are pullling there weight ?

    Thanks
    MD

You should be ok setting your RAM to 8,8,8,21 with no problems.
Most ram should be fine. You could even try lower settings.
Worst thing that can happen is that on reboot you will here long loud beep,if ram set to low. Then you would just turn off the power.Press the CMOS button on the back of the motherboard and reset the settings.

With Crysis my favorite game. That just the way the game works,
Here a video I made of Crysis while playing a couple days ago,

ah i actuallly ment i used the exact setting above not just the timings i,e system multiplyer to 8 etc etc for my 1333 ram and after i noticed that the original overclock was for a 1600 ram set.
Do you still think it will be ok ?

So you have your 1333 ram running at 1600? Sounds great, is it stable?

It will be ok if it is stable, but you need to test it and of course maybe slow it down some or adjust voltages or timings.
