Try a different SATA cable for the HDD. Are you using the purple or the yellow ports (you should use the yellow ones)?

your usb keyboard and mouse if so in use is enabled in cmos?

And you don't have one of those f lock keys on the keyboard? some microsoft ones do.

It has to be phsically pressed to on,and left on, to activate F1 thru F12 at boot

Your optical drive DVD I guess is plugged into 1 of the far left yellow satas Its a sata dvd?

Your os media is a good one? original or a copy?

ohh Hi there did you sleep yet?
I dont have the F lock key on my keyboard

My dvd rom or cd rom,for testing purpose, is using an IDE cable.

But i have the same mobo as urs and it has the option to choose the device to boot from yesl.

I was trying to install winxp 32 bits and the trial version of windows 7 both failed half way.

Ahh...I have 2 sata dvd optical...no IDE's or IDE cabling here

Is the onboard Sata\IDE devcie enabled in "Intergated Peripherals"
and below it if you have control mode? maybe put to ide?

about 3rd up from bottom in "Integrated Peripherals"

you can check drives available and order in cmos and whats going on there
