    Default How to boot from USB Thumb drive?

    I am trying to install VISTA from a USB THumb drive, but to no avail, doesn't pick it up

    Gigabyte EP45-DS3R
    Have Legacy USB enabled in bios.
    Ive tried USB-FDD, USB-CDROM, USB-HDD

    Any ideas?
    I7 - 2600K
    Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H (bios F20e mod)
    G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 16GB (4 x 4GB)
    Sapphire 7970
    ASUS XONAR DX
    Windows 8.1 64 bit

    thumb drive formatted and OS installed, With usb stuff enabled and on boot up hit F-12
    select from options there usb fdd

    you on one of the rear motherboard ports?

    might have to use ms disc partitioning tool?

    it should be available when you choose "HDD" from the boot up screen, it will be listed behind your HDD drivers

    You need to enable USB storage detection in the bios.
    This option is usually found in the Integrated Peripherals panel in the bios.
    This setting will be similar to Legacy USB Storage Detect.

    Enabling this setting might cause instability when overclocking.
    I always do o/s installs with non-overclocked settings.

    **edit** The thumb drive will probably need to be formatted as FAT32, not NTFS.
