    Post your stable 3.0 GHz bios settings and we'll take it to the next step.
    Be sure to use the suggested format (from post #9) so that it's clear
    which settings use AUTO and which settings are manually set.

    It's no big deal to jump from 333 MHz to 400 MHz or higher.
    At 423 MHz, you'll be at 3.8 GHz and your memory will be slightly over-clocked.

    After increasing FSB to 400MHz try changing Static tRead Value to 8 and give it another try. Also, you could try decreasing VCore a little and see if it's stable. My E8400 E0 does 3.6GHz at default 1.25V Vcore. Same works for a lot of other people. Good luck.

    Hi again

    Couple of notes on progress:

    • As suggested by morph, I dropped CPU Vcore to 1.28125V and it seems ok so far.
    • I tried raising FSB a little bit at a time to see when it starts to faulter, and it seems to occur around and above 345Mhz.
    • The PC booted once or twice at 378Mhz , but Windows crashes

    The system boots, and I ran Crysis Warhead to test for stability - the game runs for a bit but performance is not that good and then its crashed (complete crash) & I had to do a hardware reset.

    Hmm, should I tweak the latencies or the voltages at this juncture?

    We are intentionally leaving your memory settings loose until your system is completely stable. These looser settings don't have a major impact on overall system performance. At 3.60 GHz your system should be able to handle anything you throw at it.

    After making bios changes, always include the complete bios settings for the most recent changes. This eliminates the possibility that you made additional changes that might lead to problems.

    It will be helpful if you also include a screen-shot with:

    Memset using the SPD and ">>" tabs
    cpu-z main screen
    EasyTune6 --> TUNER tab --> ADVANCE tab --> VOLTAGE tab

    I'm back to tweaking after a wee time off - had to have a stable system to do some serious work! It's over now and I'm twitching to run GTAIV in itsglory. I've tried againto get to 3.60Ghz with these settings:

    Test with MCH Core = 1.22, 1.24, 1.26, and 1.28 volts.
    If one of these settings gives stability in Crysis, perform additional stability testing with IBT and at least one of the following:
    Prime95
    OCCT
    Orthos
    Each of these three programs should be run for at least 6 - 12 hours.
    IBT requires only one test with 10 - 20 loops, using as much memory as possible.

    Try .70 CPU ref .76 mchref @ 1.2 cpu term
    Try just under 1.4 cpu
    then raise cpu term just under cpu v. it will raise actual mch&cpu ref in ratio
    Mch core to 1.36- 1.4
    enable LLC
    push to 4gz @ highest multi use B or D strap that under clocks your ram some
    I'M ASUMING YOUR NOT ON STOCK COOLING
