    Default Overclocking G31M-S2 rev. 1.

How do you overclock this motherboard.
    Specs.
    Processor: E8400 E0 stepping
    MB: G31M-S2
Ram: 2x Kingston value Ram 800mhz

I only plan to overclock till 3.6ghz. So i wont really need to overclock my ram right..? Also from what i read since my mult is x9 at 400mhz i can go 1:1 ram ratio.

I tried a few settings. I changed the mhz frequency to 366. I changed the CPu volt to 1.32v and changed the FSB volt to +1. I also turned off all those E1st and cpu stepping stuff. except for the thermal sensors. But it seems it wouldn't even post. :(

Help please... and would it help if i flash my bios to the new F4c beta?

Yes, a new BIOS would always help I say. Not many users have this board, so I cannot say for sure which BIOS is the better to use though. If you flash please do not use @BIOS, use Qflash here is a guide I wrote >>
    http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/bios...h-guide-27576/

This guide for overclocking covers your board fully >>
    http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/giga...g-guide-26112/

Of course since you have G31 instead of P31/35 you may be missing a few things the guide covers.

These should help you get started, of course keep in mind you may be missing a option or two I mention. Please do let me know in your reply which you are missing, and be sure to try the hotkey on the MAIN page of the BIOS to check to be sure you do not have hidden settings. On the Main page of the BIOS press Control + F1 and the screen will flash, then go into MIT Section and see if you see anything new.

Here is what I would suggest for you to get at 3.6, but I do need a link to your ram or the model #, and how much you have like 2x2 or just 2x1 to be sure of some things >>>

Do you have only one 2Gb module or 2x the PDF you linked?

You can use +0.1 or +0.05 if you have it, for your ram voltage

    Leave CPU GTL_Ref on Auto

just today i managed to reach 3.6ghz by upping my FSB voltage to 2.0 and DeFSB over volate to -.5 ... Is it safe to have 1.5 increase in FSB voltage?

    btw my temp readings are:
CPU: 62-68 deg when running orthos at blend mode and with voltage of 1.265+
    MB: 40 deg

    Is this alright??

Yes that voltage is fine if temps are good, and you really may need it anyway as the G31/P31 chipsets are not really meant for overclocking.

Those temps are fine, when you reach 75+ is when you need to worry
