    Unhappy EP45-UD3P Rev 1.0 & QuadQ9550 rev E0 & Random REBOOT

    Dear All,

    I have replace my old processor E4500 by a new intel quad Q9550 Rev E0 on my EP45-UD3P Rev 1.0 with F9 latest bios.

    Since that, I have some random reboot from Vista Home Premium x64 edition.

    I tried to re-install vista, but I got some reboot as well during the installation.

    The CxE functions are activated (not present with the E4500) do you think this reboot could come from that advanced CPU settings ?

    Did you load and apply optimized defaults in the BIOS then hit F10 after you installed the new CPU? If not, you have to do this.

    If you did that and are still having issues can you please give me your full specs and settings and I will see if I can help you get this sorted out >>

    Hi,

    Thank you for the reply.

    Yes, I had load Safe default settings and also Optimized settings, but I get the same random reboot, also during vista install.

    I have made new test, by disable the features :
    C2/C2E State Support....................: [Disabled]
    x C4/C4E State Support..................: [Disabled]

    Then everything works fine : Vista Home Prem x64 install OK, XPHome x32 install OK.


    I have also tested with overcloking after, with 400Mhz bus rather deafult 333, and everithing is fine.



    So do you think/know if this CxE settins are link to another settings in the bios ?
    If no, I may have a problem on my motherboard, to managed advanced CPU energy mode, or my Q9950 has a bug.

    So has now everithin works fine without those two settings enabled, I think I will stay like that, becaus eI don't think that this 2 settings save so much energy ? are they ?

    Something else to add :

    I remember, when the CxE settings were enabled, then in CPU-Z, the CPU voltage was moving from 1.2xx Volt to a value close to 0.7V, maybe 0,7 Volt is very low for a quad CPU no ?

    You wont see many on here running with the c2/c4 super "green" energy saving enabled.Ive never turned it on.
    Yes.7 sounds v low even with vdroop.I think the design minimum for mine is .82.
    I assume 9550 would be around the same.
    Maybe it goes that low to conserve energy,but if it wont "wake up" its not much good.
    I do run my pc with eist etc enabled tho so on low load cpu will drop to a lower multiplier.

    Use ONLY optimized Defaults, please load it now if you are using fail safe ones.

    Ya, I disable C1E and EIST myself, if you plan to overclock at all you should too! Once you disable C1E those will be unavailable (Disabled)

    Dear All,


    After hardwar emonitoring, the +3.3V was +3.24.
    I bought a new PSU of 700W 80+, and no everithing is perfect.

    My old PSU was 500W, with 130W max power shared on the +5.5V & +3.3V cables.

    Now, the new PSU offers 150W shared on +5.5 & +3.3V.

    So my easy conclusion should be you need more than 130W to run a quad core Q9550 on this moterboard.
    If i had a very string GPU card, it should ba more, but I just have a 4670 Ati chip, so it's not so much.
