Here is the link to that article. Kick found it GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P OC Reivew
Warning: With Cpu Termination and Cpu PLL set to AUTO, both settings will be over-volted when you overclock.
    Care to kill your cpu?

Check it out briefly with your overclocked system using:

EasyTune6 --> Tuner tab --> Advance tab --> Voltage tab.

My best guess: The higher the overclock, the worse the over-voltage will be.

    Agree totally.. VERY BRIEFLY!

Basically what I found out was that the settings lsdmeasap said to use (from his memory review) for MCH and the ones I had been using were right. It was the CPU voltages that needed to go higher.. It made no sense to me at first because I was actually underclocking the CPU.. until I remember a comment proJim, kick or someone made that the FSB runs thru the CPU so extra volts maybe necessary for the CPU to get them, when pushing the FSB clock higher.
    BINGO I think!

I still am having stability issues.. but I am hoping to fix that.

On second though just ignore me! I am not having luck getting stability @ tRD of 8, FSB 450 and 4-4-4-12. Windows doesn't even BSOD. It just reboots after about 4 runs of IBT @ max... and or a few minutes of prime95. Pretty odd... of course maybe my wacky idea did some minor damage... sigh..

Now that I've thoroughly confused both of you with the B versus D straps, I recommend that you stay with the D-strap while you're trying for the maximum stable overclock.
You'll also find things easier if the primary memory timings are set to looser primary timings, such as 5-5-5-15.
Don't worry about tRD = 8 or 9 for now.

Once you've reached your overclocking goals, you can work with getting the most out of your systems by tweaking memory timings.

    Lost? Who? Me?

    ...totally! lol

Here's me trying to get 4-4-4-12 to boot and PJ goes and tells me to use 5-5-5-15!

For me currently, tRD = 9 (& always has so far).

I can't get through 24 minutes of Prime atm with the settings I did 24 hrs with before, could it have something to do with reinstalling the 4x 500GB SATAII drives I had gathering dust?

Could be, what setting are you using for HDD Termination voltage?

Seriously, it could be part of the problem.

That sounds like surrender, NEVER!!!!! I could be getting close to calling a truce though.. lol I few more things I want to try.. I am now trying to REALLY relax the Advanced Timing Controls.. I think we are so far gone that Lsdmeasap is avoiding us like the plague!!

    @devoh
Think of it as a rest stop on the overclocking highway.

    Here's my basic overclocking approach:
    1) Find my ram's max stable speed at stock cpu clocks, timings be damned*.
    2) Find my cpu's max stable speed using a 1:1 memory ratio (timings still damned*).
    3) Find max memory speed using other System Memory Multipliers*.
    4) Choose the setup that gives me the best overall performance.
    5) Tweak memory timings for maximum performance.
    6) Final voltage tweaks for lowest (stable) settings.
    7) Rest on my laurels.

Some will want several optimized bios profiles; gaming, encoding, general purpose, etc.

I think that Lsdme is looking over our shoulders and smiling.

    * damned = conservative memory settings, sometimes using AUTO
I always set Static tRead Value conservatively, never on AUTO

Surrender is not in my vocabulary.....strategic retreat is.

Sigh... sounds like a good plan. I will live to fight another day!
I'm testing 500FSB 2.00D 5-5-5-15 relaxed with 3.5Ghz... I think I want to keep the FSB @ 500 or below. So if I'm 500Mhz stable that will be good. Let's see what the next 24 hours brings...
